  1. That's pretty cool Fubar, and another classic example!
  2. It does amaze me that people will spend hundreds on coins without the most basic of understandings!
  3. Certainly unusual! God knows WHAT that is? I'd be interested to hear some ideas!
  4. What's really interesting is we all do this, and likely 'sub-consciously' fit into the world around us in the same way...presuming an emotion or a particular reaction from others, according to our expectations? Same as adding words that aren't even there in a psychology experiment! OK, enough of Krishnamurti and the attainment of enlightenment!
  5. Unusual obverse for a 1905? Edit: the power of the subconscious, you actually graded it, Bob! We did something similar in a psychology course, where we were all asked to read a section from a story on screen! Only 2 out of 10 people read their part correctly! The rest of us added words that weren't even there, to make it read correctly!
  6. Here's one by Colin Cooke! A little sideline of Neil's, possibly? 201295829365
  7. Agree, though, it does have that look about it in the pics!
  8. Have you tried a little bit of acetone on a Q-tip to a small area? I bought a coin once, which had nice black toning in and around the letters...not after I'd acetoned it and found it to be some kind of paint or other!
  9. Hah, well done Prax, glad to see you holding back! Lovely coin!
  10. http://www.serif.com/pageplus/ I got totally carried away after that, but deleted it, thinking 'enough's enough!'
  11. 'I threw me pitchfork at your dog to keep quiet!' Written for our new £2 Britannia! Ok, so it's nice and contemporary, but where's the quality in its strike? The blue image of the design looks promising, the coin itself...?
  12. I honestly don't get it, Mark? Elizabeth I turned out some sharper milled coins 450 years ago!
  13. Toast anyone? It does seem to be another lazy design. What ever happened to the fine detail we used to find on farthings, and the even smaller denominations of the early 20th century? Has all our advances in technology made it harder, rather than easier, to emulate the artwork of times past?
  14. A Rather lovely Bust 4D - thanks very much for the extra images, Rob, much appreciated!
  15. I thought Saltford was one of your recommended regulars? It only stands out for me as I lived for a number of years in Bath, and passed through Salford on my way to work in Bristol? Never met or dealt with them myself I must add!
  16. I always thought you to be passionate about EVERY little detail of the series you collected?
  17. Crafty old dog must be watching from the wings, then?
  18. Yes, where is the old bean? I most expected him on the 'choice' thread, what with it being a GV HC in debate! Not like him at all! Anyone PM'd him?
  19. Oh, dear! That old pewter threepence raises its ugly head, yet again!
