I like the line stating you should avoid 1866 and 1871 halfcrowns, as these are forgeries. OK, thanks for the info..Quoting his eBay blurb here "Victoria's Half Crowns were struck from 1839 to 1901, none were struck between 1851 and 1873 because of the striking of the new decimal coin the Florin which was struck in its place. " Since when did decimalisation come into effect between 1851 and 1873? Here's another one - 'only' £29.99 on a BIN. Apparently it's now a pattern! Somebody's knocking these out somewhere. Strange thing is, they are worn to differing degrees, and the first one really looks as though it's circulated? I wonder if it did? The milled edge on the BIN one is pretty good isn't it?

We had a good old, grown-up, conversation the other day, after listening to a BBC 4 radio program about current German literature. The saddest thing that was said was the kids of today's Germany are still growing up with the stigma of being the offspring of 'mass murderers!' This was said by a German writer, not me, but I felt deeply saddened about it! My best friend (now dead) was married to a German woman, and his children also made this point very clear to me! I spend so much of my time educating my son to believe, when he's fighting the iron cross on a play station, that he's not fighting Germany. What chance have the poor kids of Germany got? How long before they raise up and say 'once more, we're tired of you depressing our culture and our ways'? I truly hope that comedy, and a lot more responsibility on the part of the gaming industry and sensible parents will help? We sensibly ban racism, yet stupidly continue it in this ridiculous situation where I have to tell my son 'NO, he's not the baddy!' when he's playing a a WWI or II flying game! Edit: sorry, that last point didn't come over properly! My point is they shouldn't even be allowed to develop games which discriminate in this way! It would be the same game to my son if the planes had catapillars and mushrooms for insignia!

Does anyone have any ideas why I might be unable to access the forum through my wifi connection with WiFi Spark? I can access the forum using my phone data on GPRS, but this means I can't view images (without the patient of a saint), and get booted off with 'you don't have access to forum on this server' if I switch to wifi! I have an account with WiFi Spark who say it's not an issue with their service, and confirmed the forum route isn't blocked. I use a router which is wired to an outside aerial. My laptop also has the same error message when trying to connect to the forum via this wifi connection. I've cleared the cache on my laptop ( a month), but no difference! Any ideas?
