  1. Coincraft is four years out of date, bear in mind. The disparity between the prices you suggest for a 1791 and a 1795 isn't very large considering the mintage for 1791 is about six times that of 1795. I'd still love to own a spade guinea one day!
  2. I thought with the scratches it still grades at AEF so I took a stab between VF and EF. You should see what it was actually sold at - £550!
  3. I was editing my post to say it could be a counter, but if it looked exactly like the picture I figured that the normal counterfeits weren't that sophisticated. A counterfeit is pictured below, although it's rather crude
  4. If it's exactly the same as the one in the picture, it's valued at about £450.
  5. Berries - this stumped me for a while. On the reverse of Victorian bun-head coins, Victoria is sporting a wreath. On this, there are berries. THe number simply refers to the number of berries present on it!
  6. To ascertain value, we need a grade for the coin. By registering and posting a picture, we can be more exact. But, I am concerned about the "shield" - could you be more exact? Does the coin look like the one below (this is a larger denomination but the reverse is still the same) A spade guinea is one minted during the reign on George III and looks like the one below If it is a William III guinea, it has a range of values. A picture is needed not only to grade it, but because there are three varieties of 1701 all with different values.
  7. Wasn't it the same with prohibition? Everything apart from consumption was banned? Or have I just made that up?
  8. You will still probably be able to record data onto it - what brand are they?
  9. I think my sarcasm detector needs recalibrating
  10. Yes, but Snoopers have a specific purpose, nothing else can be done with them. They can hardly be used for "research purposes". Cds on the other hand - data can be recorded onto them, not just music, games etc.
  11. Not worth more than 50p - keep it, it's a pretty coin.
  12. Tony Clayton has a list of values, taken from Spink I guess. I think they are relatively up to date too.
  13. I thinked you picked the best coins out of the commemorative circs! Talk about the ghastly 2003 Coronation anniversary or the Prince's Trust one. I don't think they can sue you, after all, you're just voicing your opinion.. If you had said that the Master of the Mint was a dwarf with no taste, then you would be sued!
  14. Oh God my granddad is a maniac on the road! HPJ, snoopers are legal, they wouldn't be able to sell them in shops otherwise.
  15. We have five periods and the day is: P1 (1hr) Break (15mins) P2 (1hr) Break (15mins) P3 (1hr) Lunch (1hr) P4 (1hr) Break (15mins) P5 (1hr) End of school
  16. I have one like that, a five centimes. Next time, try phrasing it different and be pleased with our efforts.
  17. Bornze eh. I think Sylvester meant bronze too, as one of its majour constituents is copper...plus it looks like copper too.
  18. If you register, then attach a picture, we will get a better idea of what it is. At the minute, I'm thinking western Europe states (pre-unification) - Wurzburg, Bavaria, Hanover, Savoy - actually, it could be Hesse, because I think that has a lion it its flag. But then again, I'm not expert on this type of coinage!
  19. Dammit I wish they would put the shows on the site to download, or at least transcripts.
  20. Buy a snooper! My granddad has one and they're super - they detect all the kinds of camera and give adequate warning.
  21. Correct, whatever peanuting is.
  22. Could be in a ditch for all I know
  23. Same values for both 1840 and 1843.
