So here's another one he's about to unload to an Aussie. I think the worst thing is, that we know what he does, and have a fair good incling that he shill bids, yet we can't do sweet FA about it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330511200274&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D330511200274%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Here is the bid retraction/cancellation history on that coin... Bidder Action / Explanation Date of Bid and Retraction private listing -- bidders identities protected Retracted: £1,600.00 Explanation:Entered wrong amount Bid:24-Dec-10 23:13:06 GMT Retracted: 26-Dec-10 16:50:49 GMT private listing -- bidders identities protected Retracted: £4.50 Explanation:Entered wrong amount Bid:22-Dec-10 13:32:59 GMT Retracted: 22-Dec-10 13:54:01 GMT private listing -- bidders identities protected Retracted: £1,688.00 Explanation:Entered wrong amount Bid:25-Dec-10 13:14:51 GMT Retracted: 26-Dec-10 10:18:28 GMT So basically he's retracted his own bids down to the next serious bidder who was at 1400GBP, i mean lets be honest how many times have you seen 3 retracted bid on the same item, 2 in the same day?
-
Krause doesn't know that much about Pennies then as Spink has it at 750GBP in fine as there is only a handful known
-
Basically its down to shill bidding and greed. This man isn't content with a 100 bux profit on a coin, he wants 100s and His greed will eventually Be his downfall, cos any man knows that, that is never a 1500GBP coin

I See that Classic british coins 1860 penny has took yet another tumble, its lost 200 quid since yesterday, wish all sellers were like that lol, but very strange
-
He's certainly had one dissatisfied German buyer, who'd obviously bought a coin described as UNC but less so in hand However, he says he's UK based ~ Greater Manchester. The "Adolf" comment may or may not mean he's German, but it's certainly very unpleasant. Difficult to retaliate without ramping up the problem to the buyer's own detriment. I'd love one of those to be for real. Sincerely hope your gamble has paid off on this occasion, Dave. Realistically, I wouldn't hold my breath, but good luck !!! Well me either, but as a collector, can you pass it up?

I await the facts Ski
-
And again, re-read the answer......WARS not the same WAR, if you can supply more eveidence of other WARS stopping for xmas then i'll be happy to retract my statement, should give you something to do over the festive period
-
I believe the war didn't stop as in stop, it did continue for another 4 years ski
-
Well now isn't that strange, that 1860 Penny from Classic British Coins has actually gone DOWN 100 quid since yesterday, it stood at 1650, now 1550.............Something is afoot

Agreed! but also the whole area beneath the lighthouse is also weak, the appears to be no L in LCW My Freeman 6 is in lousy condition but a much better strike also is it my imagination, or is a there slight difference in the position of Britannia's thumb relative to St Georges cross?? David The thumb does look vaguely different. Although whether it's because all the other fingers are worn to a flat indistinguishable from each other, blur, I don't know. That doesn't look like a thumb, more like a crabs claw
-
I think his 6 negatives in 6 months says it all. He does sound German though, as his spelling of Rare (RAR) is the German Spelling, then his answer to one of his negatives with reference to Adolf lol, i'd stay clear, if no one else has seen one of these already i'd think his eyes are playing tricks on him, or else just BS to get rid of it not caring about another negative. Saying that though, i indulged in an 1882 (No H) just to satisfy my own curiosity, the seller said NO H??? so again, perhaps i've been stung and if so and i can visibly see an H without a lupe or scope, then his neutral will be forthcoming, but if there is no H then
-
Normally i keep boxes but can't seem to find the one for the scope. Although Maplin is a good place for these type of things, the details i have on the scope is that its a Traveler Model No SU 1071 This next part is on the underside on the label. Supra Foto-Elektronik-Vertriebs-GMBH Deinstraße 28A 67663 Kaiserslautern Hotline 0049 631 3428441 Maybe look up the company, perhaps they sell through their own website, although no website is mentioned on the scope itself

Actually it had ended by the time I got round to messaging him, but by none of us doing so we are our own worst enemies. If everybody messaged sellers mis-describing their coins, then its incidence, although unlikely to be totally eliminated, would at least dramatically reduce. Yes there are many instances of it on e-bay, but that doesn't make it right. I know it's a bit heavy for something as minor as this, but to quote Edmund Burke; 'All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing'. Q.E.D. And i agree with you Red, although it being Christmas, do wars stop during xmas? No!!!! If you 2 ladies wish to stuff your wives like a Turkey then am sure they'd be pleased with your comment, although they might find the stuffing a little old and dry by the time you next get to stuff your Turkeys after that
-
must have been happy then! Well here's my theory. I reckon that classic british coins is actually shill bidding as he knows people with deep pockets, hence the fact all his auctions are now private, why else would a coin with a value of only 850 be now at double book price, it makes no sense and isn't an ultra rare coin, just my theory anyway
-
Your from Indy Bob, used to date a girl around that area Quite a southern drawl she had to
-
The winning bidder On this is actually the guy who bought the 1869 Penny from him last month, he's an Ausrralian patrickc888, something like that
-
Are those up to Date Gouby prices David? As we've seen so many time, bunheads in Top grades are flying at the moment. Spink however lists it at 875GBP but even now its double Book price, so even i'm Not getting why this price has virtually doubled Spinks estimate
-
Should be approx. 28.4g. As it is likely that only one or two (if any) 1934 crowns found their way to China, then any defects to the original coin will be repeated on the reproduction. Essentially the process used is for the forger to employ the genuine coin as a hub from which he then cuts a die and ultimately copy coins from that die. For this reason, many of the copies are far from high grade and can be as low as fine. Unfortunately I do not know the particulars of any 1934 forgeries but someone else on here may know, failing that a search of the internet might yield an answer. Incidentally, there was a previous wave of forgeries emenating from the Middle East. I have now weighed the crown as advised and I am pleased to say it weighed 28.3g. Which hopefully is within the tolerance of the accepted weight of this crown and the weighing scales. With all your advice, I shall now consider my next move. Thank you for your help. Out of interest, which area of the country are you in? I'm in the East Of England Chris, the owner of this site might be able to help you should you decide to sell or require help in that direction.
-
Its actually 1 + B. So its doubled its book price already
-
Buhead prices going crazy especially for top Grades. If you check spink there is 16 beaded varieties listed out of those, half Run into 4 figures in unc and only 3 are less than 500 in unc, so its Safe to assume its the die pairing of the coin

I can't see anything on either the Aldi or Lidl websites, did find this though on Amazon is this the same one? David Yup, thats very similar to the one i paid 30 euros for
-
And to you David and everyone else on the forum. Another virtual drink all round We'll be getting drunk at this rate
-
The one i bought was only 30 euros from Aldi, it does what it has to, which is looking for that overstrike, i use it for nothing else, also the capture button is a mouse click away. I mentioned to ski yesterday that Lidl in the UK were selling one (don't know what its like) as a friend of mine was telling me just the other day. I don't know if you haveone of the cheap German supermarkets near you Colin, but if you have, it might be worth popping in on the off chance.

It looks AUNC to me, though the pictures are rather small. As to value, if it's not Chinese then you're looking at a minimum of about £3000 but possibly quite a bit more at auction. Thank you for your prompt reply,I did manage to upgrade the photographs eventually. I don't know if you looked at these when giving your opinion or my first photographs which were of poor quality. The 4 crowns I considered of good quality were all purchased from a very reliable source and hopefully are not chinese. Can you or someone else please explain how one can tell if the coin is of chinese origin , having just joined the forum i'm not up to speed on these issues yet. The 1st step would be weight (not sure what this should be) but if its within tolerance then 2nd step for me personally would be a reputable dealer for more authentication. I'd go along with Peckris on the grade though, so if you do take it to a dealers you at least know its value and if he makes you an offer it should be a couple of 100 short of book price as these are quite rare and do sell.
