  1. Apparently, if a sellers DSR (detailed seller rating) drops below 4.3 eBay bans you, in these cases that are going to court, the sellers mentioned are taking them to court over Antitrust issues apparently through no fault of their own. They are basically saying that eBay favour the larger sellers (something which i thought many moons ago) over the smaller sellers due to the fact the larger ones bring in much more cash for eBay. Read on...... http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y10/m12/i23/s02 Just as a side note, i also think its against anti Monopoly rights that eBay UK actually force sellers to accept Paypal, in Germany that doesn't happen, we don't have to have a Paypal account in order to list, what does that say for the UK being shafted as is normal
  2. That will go for at least £300. Now has 28 watchers
  3. So basically they're leaving that 10% margin incase something better comes along, very astute, but something no one will ever see or hear of i assume, so taking into consideration of Slyvesters post about the American grading of MS-70, why have 100 if nothing could EVER get near it as it would have to be absolute perfection, which is something you'll never find with old coins. Perhaps they should alter their scale down 1 point to 99?
  4. Declan found this one, posting it here to keep this thread alive as it's helpful for all things coins. The birth of the Three and a Half Pence http://colonialthreehalfpence.com/the_birth
  5. Ok, i know this issue comes up every other month, but i really have to know. CGS grade coins, they are harsh at times, i'm asking, where do they get their grades from? I'm told or have read here on the forum that they have their own yardstick, so do they measure every coin from what they have seen? The reason i ask is this, the Workman sale part 2, lot number 48 described as (Bronze Proof. BMC 1702. F 81. Dies 8+H. Gouby P. Superb As Struck with full original colour. Slabbed by CGS as 90. As such the finest known As you can see above, the words "finest known" so how come still 90, i mean, if they've never seen anything better then their yardstick has been broken, this infuriates me, their grading is surely taking the piss
  6. Bids Watchers 1875 VICTORIA BRONZE "BUN HEAD"PENNY-SUPERB UNC 4 25 3 days 5 hours 18 mins 44 secs 106.00 GBP
  7. Well bones, if you are ever interested in a coin in fleabay and curious if Otters might be also then send me a pm and i'll let you Know ;-)
  8. The sniper just doesn't snipe, it also tells me how many people are watching coins ;-)
  9. Been watching it for 3 days, more out of curiosity. He has 23 watchers so far to
  10. He does sell plimsoles to, maybe get a pair just so i can slap his jaw with them, 20k
  11. return them to the mint, that way you're guaranteed that no one can profit, plus you'll get your money back...........As the meercat says.....simples
  12. I see a lot of the coin worn Scott, but i understand why you'd pick that point to point out
  13. Could be a possibility as the scope i have is limited, as you say, it was just a punt and still to me its far from a obvious H, maybe its the metal flow, but no idea. I think i will submit it, more for clarification than anything else, but as David stated its not the correct die for the 1882 without H, but as we all know, not everything conforms to a written standard or the same dies
  14. If am being honest Sion i really can't see an H, so what i've done is microscoped another picture at 60x, 200x was useless. I've then went into paint and arrowed what i think you might be seeing. To me it is a shape of some sort, but looks more like a Z than an H to me as what i believe as an angled line and not horizontal as an H should be. So take a look and then you thoughts. Fisrt one is the magnified and the 2nd is what i did through paint with arrows pointing at the shape that i'm seeing
  15. I'll do another magnified picture at 60x or 200x and see what we get then, will be tomorrow tho
  16. Die cracks are pretty common
  17. So i bought this on pure speculation as the ebay seller had ??? against it. To me, there seems no H as my magnified picture shows, there's also no evidence of tooling either, so i'm putting it up here for debate. Personally i can't see any evidence of an H, maybe someone else has a theory on it?
  18. I tried changing the values but it wouldn't overwrite them, although for now i'm using the free trial, so perhaps thats it
  19. My family variation on that was 'enough blue to make a sailor a pair of trousers'. Yes, we were told the sailor variant also - except it was 'mend' in both cases, not 'make' (perhaps it was a smaller patch of blue sky? ) My mother always said "It's going to be sunny if there's enough sky to make an Englishman's trousers" followed by "Bloody Englishmen". This was all in Welsh of course. See, i knew the Welsh had a dislike of English (see my other post in newbie)
  20. Lol, yes, but it was 20 years ago ish
  21. Welcome Sion, i used to live in Cardiff for a while then up the Rhondda near Tonypandy, nice part of the world, although the Welsh dislike the English, which me and a friend of mine found out while out at the local nightclub one night on Cardiff Queen Street, us being Scottish were quite confused but we still kicked their arses
  22. Downloaded the free trial I can add a coin and picture, but don't appear to be able to have a type not listed in Krause, So only one type of 1860 1d beaded border. Can have hollow neck 1911 1/2d but not the penny. Very frustrating, I'll have another play later David Downloaded the trial version also, i think their prices are a little out though. What do you get with the full version, whats different? Had a little play with it myself, it seems good, my only issue is with its pricing on coin values which cannot be changed
