  1. www.goofbay.com there on the Main Page you can Check with the article number. The Tool is called "most populär" bottom right Main page
  2. Believe it or not, the coin has 60 watchers Wonder how many are from the forum Q: Hello. what is the weight of this item also the thickness A: hi there, kit weighs 2.9 grams on my scales, its about 1mm thick, viewing welcome, kind regards, dan
  3. There was a very High Grade Florin posted by palves and was fiound to be fake. There was also a dot underneath the I of BRIT
  4. Short and quick answer is no. Your shield on the REV is to near the rim
  5. I have My German one, but when i win it i'll drop him a wee line telling him i dislike pewter and ask if he likes cherries. In this case he has been told several days in advance that the coin was fake and yet he sent Peck an Email today saying he can't unfortunately change it. Lets see if he'll change it before i send a cherry. He has the option, his way or mine
  6. Oh yes, I see it - tiny, right? There appears to be two in fact. There again, it/they could be anything - a minute die flaw for example. Yes there's 2 spots. As i said, it might just be me
  7. Always amazes me that such ancient quality coins can be acquired at affordable prices, those are great Hus! Good Romans are plentiful. Not surprising when you consider the size and sophistication of that economy and culture. But yes, it's good that so many are available at such reasonable prices. Ironically, when you look at the late Republic and early Empire, the silver coins are much more affordable than the bronzes. That's true, especially in better condition. I guess a lot of bronzes have been damaged after being in the ground for so long. Some of the silver became quite debased as well. Beautiful coins, really well struck
  8. Look under the I peck and nearer the forehead
  9. Dropping the buyer a link to this thread would be class! Winning bidder so far is fhharrington 5th page of FB How do you do that? An element of deduction My dear Dr Watson. The user has bought from him before. I checked the high bidder initials and score, it was 56 when i was checking, it then changed to 57 so it had to be one and the same. The hidden names initials in the bidders list fit the ebay name along with score after trawling through his FB No s**t Sherlock, that's clever! You could've been John's Jam Sandwich partner, and talked coins all day long! That's a £50+ piece of pewter now, with 3hrs still to go! Might make a nice VF price! It can go to 200 quids worth of pewter, it won't sell Now i'm winning the bid
  10. Following on from this thread and all things China. Palves threw up a Florin recently that was faked. I'm not sure, but this could be another, this time 1852 from a British seller. I got a little suspicious when i noticed his old coins then three shiny new looking ones he had in Very high grades. He has a Queen Anne shilling along with a William III plus this Florin, all look too good, but it might just be my suspicious nature. Below the I in BRITT you can see a raised spot. See what you think............Oh, ebay link is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221111535764;jsessionid=CDAB242623CFDB4219B5B2A3BFAA05EB?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D221111535764%26_rdc%3D1 and the others i'm also looking at (Queen Anne http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fabulous-1708-Queen-Anne-Silver-Shilling-e6210-/221111520850?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item337b460e52 and (William III http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beautiful-Condition-William-III-Silver-1700-Shilling-e6211-/320967543144?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item4abb280968 Hopefully the floin picture is big enough to see the spot under BRIT

  12. Dropping the buyer a link to this thread would be class! Or better still put in a huge bid, he said in a reply to Peck that it was to late to chnage it, so a high bid and don't follow through with the transaction and inform him he can now relist with the correct Information simples Winning bidder so far is fhharrington 5th page of FB
  13. You can always inform the buyer
  14. This also has a die clog, the bottom line of the B in BRITANNIA is missing
  15. Stuart, you've hit the nail on the head. No picture but an easily accessable PCGS number, pop the fake into the fake PCGS holder (which are kicking about now) and Hey presto another piece of Shite kicking about
  16. A good point well made Dave, and a reminder that we mustn't put a premium on slabbed coins or drift towards the US model that seems to trust these grades without question and rely on them, it will end up putting me off collecting to be honest if that's the way we go in Europe Paul, never rely on a TPG, especially an American one. Rely on what you have learnt from the forum and your own judgement of grade. I've personally liked many coins but put off by grading, with overgrading comes OTT prices as can be seen by this topic
  17. My iPhone is spelling for me Mr Peckris
  18. I'd get thar bad Boy slabbed by CGS
  19. There is a Benchmark Paul, its called your own judgement. Just because its behind a slab with a Ticket does'nt mean you or anyone Must agree with it, and in this case we all agree the Ticket grade is bollox
  20. That is the big problem with slabbing companies that don't insist on good quality images! CGS are as bad, a lot of their images are just token gestures, totally underexposed and blurred at times, as good as useless. Any 'jasmine' slabbers would surely be trawling the TPGC sites looking for the unidentifiable images and using those slab numbers on their own slabs, wouldn't they? I think slab buyers, and slabbers, should begin insisting on quality images, especially when dealing with milled coinage! I just bought a slabbed coin that looked much better in the hand than the photo had suggested it would. CGS had used very directional lighting that highlighted a surface flaw that 'in the flesh' was almost invisible to the naked eye. On the one had I was glad but on the other hand I know that their pic could be a problem if I come to sell it on. Although to be fair to them, even a bad CGS photo is almost always going to be better than a good ebay photo. I Take it you have'nt seen my photos then? My own opinion but i think my poctures represent my coins 100% accurately warts an all
  21. It'll probably be sat there for a while. Thats terrible grading from NGC, obviously they're to relaxed with their standards or someone has a friend who works there
  22. Was trawling and came across this. 1st question, is it genuine? Anyone have access to the PCGS database to check the serial, if so, is the coin pictured the same as this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GREAT-BRITAIN-FLORIN-1902-SILVER-PCGS-PF63-MATTE-/370597879621?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item56495adf45 If genuine, then fine, if not, slab collectors should be worried. Matt Proof, but seems to be quite heavily toned. Looking back at Pies Matte Shilling, there's quite a difference, so just curious
  23. I think he has a doll figure of me somewhere John as he's changed his eBay name again
  24. Ahhh Sorry Stuart. Here in Germany we get massages on the NHS. I have a problem with my neck and spine, normally the discs are 10mm apart, mine are only 5mm due to working at the airport at one time throwing 20 kilo suitcases into the hold and very little room to do it. So now i get massages to try and stretch the 5 & 6 neck disc. I did try the Chinese guy to though, he was much better but cost €35 for 30 mins which was'nt on the NHS unfortunately and he kept sticking needles in me
  25. It's an "erb".mannnn. If you like Oriental/Asian food you've had some. Ahhhhh sooooo, Stuart thinks the 1850 shilling pic i uploaded is Chinese? Very cryptic, but i'd love to hear the theory why.....
