i have a fair bit of Victorian but concentrating on Farthings at present, Some of the rarer ones there are hard to get..... did pick up a nice 1863 at a car boot sale, a GEF, but i got it in an old purse for a quid so cant be far wrong. Could do with a help getting the 1844 though. James

Only walking i ever done was with the metal detector, must have walked some miles then....... I was out at the weekend there and found an axe head!! Cumbria is a great place to walk though, lots of pubs to stop off in the countryside.

i used to go metal detecting but thats all i found ----- metal coke can rings and rubbish.... did fnd a few hammered coins though, never looked at em cos im scared to clean them..... more interested in farthings anyways jr

i have checked with my insurers (direct line) i gave them my "book" value of the coins (all undergraded) they advised me to look at a sfatey deposit box! I collect mainly 1/4d from as early as possible, gold, pennies, and silver 3d Alone on the farthings side of things i have just under £2000 worth, this is because i have managed topick up a few of the rare ones in excellent condition, namely 1863 & 1869 James

Can you have a look at your 1852's again as mine also has on BRITTANIAR the BR are doubled as well, kind of like as it it was missed. Gonna try scanning it later and if i can get a decent piccy will post here. Also Couple of varieties for you. 1864 VICTORIA' 1878 FARTHING the R leg is split 1878 (same coin) REG is R upside down F G Again i will try for better pics

She just watches my collection grow, she doesnt seem to mind the cost....yet! She spent a lot on coins at christmas for me of which i managed to get some cash back as he ripped her off. I started buying Sovereigns as an investment and she agreed, so im happy shes happy and if my coin account goes down i sell off a sovereign. I must have a very understanding wife----either that or stupid! her dad is a collector in france and his collection is massice and very expensive. so maybe thats why she doesnt mind.

I hate daddy long legs too!! But the thing i hate most has to be moths - when the flap around and leave the dust etc etc. *shudder

We used to go hunting slow worms and adders. Best place to find slow worms are under stones near to whin bushes and on hills. I had a pet one for a few months 'til my brother let it go. Adders my sister got bitten by one when she stood on it playing hiding seek, they aint highly venomous. I used to love looking at them. I have NEVER seen a grass snake!!
