Bronze & Copper Collector

Here is an example of a SEVERELY ABUSED half penny that I had found, that was my first specimen of the Die Letter A to the Right of the Lighthouse... Being on a fixed income I was grateful that I had found this specimen, it's poor condition not withstanding. The lines of the A, in my opinion, I believe are too clear despite the abuse to be anything else.... I would have to be convinced otherwise.

I know of 3 letter positions for the Die Letter A (Reverse G): Two to the LEFT of the Lighthouse (one CLOSER to the RIM, the other CLOSER to the LIGHTHOUSE) and one to the RIGHT of the LIGHTHOUSE (UNLISTED in Freeman). Only 1 letter position for the Die Letter B (Reverse E): To the LEFT of the Lighthouse... And 2 letter positions for the Die Letter C (Reverse F): Both to the LEFT of the Lighthouse (one CLOSER to the RIM, the other CLOSER to the LIGHTHOUSE)

Doesn't seem to be the correct reverse for a Die Letter C... No Die Letter = Reverse G (EXCEPT for a few VERY RARE specimens with Reverse E without Die Letter Die Letter A (All Types) REVERSE G Die Letter B REVERSE E Die Letter C (All Types) REVERSE F See images as follows

You really aren't a child of the digital world, are you Rob! Anyone can have a Google account, which comes with free email address. It's not INSTEAD OF your existing provider, it's AS WELL AS. You don't even have to use the provided email address, but you can use the free online storage and especially convert your docs to PDFs. Googlemail is webmail, i.e. you access it via your web browser, not your email program. Microsoft provide their own version of it - Windows Live - complete with free storage also, so theoretically you could have umpteen webmail addresses, each one with free email addresses (which you don't have to use), free online storage, and in the case of Google, a suite of online office programs. Having converted your Word docs to pdf then you can just re-download them again if you want, to print them off. Saved me the trouble of writing all that.... Although I thought most people had more than 1 email address anyway

I don't own this coin anymore, but the picture was taken while it belonged to me... You're welcome to use it, probably best to crop the coin from the holder though... Can't seem to find a better image though....

Its a question of completing a collection ...any serious collector of bronze pennies knows that there are only a very limited number of R18+ pennies available to them and in the case of the 1877 narrow date they might only get an opportunity once or twice to buy one....and none of them are in high grade. I think Bobs was quite a high grade Although I can't say definitely, it was probably the finest known... certainly the finest I have ever seen imaged... "The exception that proves the rule."

While we generally do not pay notice to nor comment upon the expense involved in building a collection... with the exception of possibly commenting upon the stratospheric levels acheived by certain rarities... we do however acknowledge the painstaking research and effort involved in acquiring specimens that are amongst the finest available....QUALITY FIRST... It's more than be said about my collection... You are way too modest... You have some very fine examples indeed! Thank you for the kind words....I do have many of the rare varieties, albeit not always in the choicest condition.... I'll grant that some may not be available in the so called "collectable grades"..... My belief, however, is that if someone (me for example) wants it for and places it in their collection, then it is indeed collectable.... As I made note in another post, I generally do not collect proofs nor patterms, (with some exceptions), so the collection is not as complete as others.... But I am content with what I have accomplished, working with what I had available to me....

Yes unlikely he bought it as a 2+G I suppose, is he just pulling a saxby?I'd give him the benefit of the doubt except that it's still listed as obv. 2 and he says he has higher res images available on request so I don't understand why he didn't use those in the first place! I messaged him also and am still waiting for a response... Maybe his response is that the auction is now ended..

Sorry but for my eyes and fingers they are,pretty coins though That's much as it is with me..... Concentrating primarily on mostly pennies and half pennies and limiting it with few exceptions to circulation strikes only.... I've recently expanded my farthing album to accomodate the varieties noted on Colin Goodes website (well deserved hat's off to you Colin)... I still have difficulty seeing farthings due to size and I probably will never achieve the level of completion that I have attained with the other two denominations... Especially, being on a fixed income, I have to budget my purchases and/or make some dramatic finds.. But the thrill is in the hunt itself....
