  1. What were all those Charles II sixpences again? And what about James II ones? Just so i know what i'm letting myself in for. And whilst we're at it what about the William and Mary variants, 1693 (inverse 3) and 1694? or a plain old 93 for that matter?
  2. Aye but with coins as old as the 12th century there were no mintage figures so it'd be hard to tell which category they'd fit into anyhow even if they did put the figures down in concrete. Although i have a feeling Chriss that R3 is probably more likely to be 20-250 or the like. Or 20-500 and R2 as 500-1000 Just a guess!
  3. That's what i thought, i thought it went to R7 but i was beginning to think i'd dreamt it up! So my Stephen is R3!!! At last i own an Extremely Rare coin!!!
  4. Yeah i've heard of it, buit i never knew how far it went or what the quotas were... I know Coincraft uses them from time to time, i though Mr Hawkins did too but 'i've lost the page...
  5. Can someone explain exactly how far the rarity ratings go up, is it R-1 to R-10? (As the US does) or have we got something a little different? And what are the approx figures for the rarity ratings, e.g in US for R3 it requires between 500-999 coins in existence, what's ours like? DON'T HAVE THIS INFO AT HAND...
  6. Crowns? Sorry don't really do crowns. Never was that fussed over Wreathies... i definately wouldn't pay the prices for them that they go for. I mean you could buy a hammered gold coin with that kinda cash!
  7. Lemme guess Anthony Halse?
  8. Well i've got nothing against Charles, hopefully IRB won't design those obverses cos the ones we have now are just not nice. (from either a grading point of view or an aesthetic [i.e too low relief] point of view)
  9. 2017 is the next one i can think of (is it 2017 or 2016?) the 200th anniversary of the milled sovereign, perhaps they'll reinvent the Geo III reverse?
  10. Lol I doubt they were mocking them! i mean mock as in copying (like mock-gothic) not as in taking the pis... well erm actually maybe they were.
  11. yep they ain't good! i don't post much on there...
  12. The shield reverse was still no where near as nice as the original shield reverse coins of Victoria that they were mocking... now that my friend is my favourite kinda sovereign.
  13. I'm going to do that shortly, i've been hanging around on the Royal mint forums... with that aim in mind!
  14. Eliza if you can find out the denomination ratio figures for mintages. E.g out of 100% silver minted in 1555 10% is comprised of halfcrowns, 22% shillings... etc... (if you can find those figures) [p.s i made those figures up completely off of the top of my head] If you can then i can do the maths again and hopefully we'll get those pesky mintage figures sussed!
  15. Ah nice to have tradition on my side. I hope Geoff won't be pinching all the tea in the Expert members staff room, now that i've been forced to share it with someone!
  16. I'm glad you're back! long time no see...
  17. now i wonder why that should be?
  18. I guess i'm now the longest serving regular non 'admin' member no?
  19. i thought you'd appreciate that, i know i wanted Machin back too!
  20. i've used that saying myself a few times!
  21. This is true... But even when you do notice them it does necessarily mean you can figure out how to use em.
  22. There were some quite nice lasses in Barnsley, (looks round hoping this next bit won't get him shot), and you'd not expect that would you!
  23. I know i'm like that... a crawler But hey i think you've earned it.
  24. I jsut can't help but get the feeling we missed out... See the picture at the bottom. http://home.hiwaay.net/~hfears/com_2/com_2o.htm
