  1. They also sell them for alot more that catelogue price too. I've seen G5 sovereigns in AVF priced up at £80 before now.
  2. bored and depre... no really i do it for the sheer fun of it!
  3. Don't know, but if they did surely you'd end up with white gold rather than yellow gold? (i still think it's 22ct gold and the remaining 2cts is substituted with copper)
  4. If you say so Chris... Okay where was that 1677 sixpence you promised me?
  5. My best buy would have to be the 1688 James II half guinea, bought it one and half years ago for £225, and now looking in the coin catalogue it's worth about £375-£400 Best buy ever.
  6. It's the copper mixed in with the gold that tones... gold coins with any slightly unmixed copper in them will begin to tone. And gold coins can even develop verdigris.
  7. Wow! and who'd have thought that Churchie would have been in my 500th post...!!!
  8. Did i hear a free Churchill Crown?
  9. i see custard on here everyday!
  10. I don't know about that Chris... we'd be doomed with twenty odd Sylvester imitators running around. Hands off my sixpence...
  11. makes life so much more pleasant
  12. i'm beginning to like these extra things we can do...
  13. i bet Geoff can edit too...
  14. lets have a go... (works for me!)
  15. I once found an 1950 florin... it's really not nice.
  16. Sussssh not so loud... she collects crowns on and off, as well as most other world coins.
  17. have you seen the state of that new £5 coin? I'm beginning to agree with Oli on this one.
  18. Welcome Kuhli! Yes i'm afraid the Churchill Crowns are somewhat common. I did have one, but by sheer miracle labmom bought it. So i'm now liberated!
  19. I doubt many of the 5p's will still be out, i think the novelty will have worn off by now and they'll be pretty much in circ. The pennies on the other handhave been round alot longer and many will have been lost, damaged, destroyed, hoarded, thrown down wells... That and i don't tend to see all that many of them. 1971 2p's on the other hand seem far more prevalent, even though they are of a slightly lower mintage.
  20. 1,521,666,250 for the 1971 penny only beaten by 1,634,976,005 1990 5 pences
  21. my advice to you don't look at 1971 pennies...
  22. Well by definition they couldn't be in the same condition, as UNC and EF are two different conditions/grades. Both very good grades, EF being one below UNC, but the fact is the UNC would sell for more, cos it's the better grade.
  23. Does Manchester Museum have a triple unite knocking about?
  24. I guess we could use them as landfill/hardcore stuff that they bury under the foundations of buildings? Or how about as ballast under railway sleepers for super effective drainage?
