  1. Still wouldn't want to be there after 9pm though!
  2. connections everywhere Chris!
  3. Ah the Oldham loop goes to trams... i heard about this. Piccadilly is alot better now, and as for Olli, i also forgot to mention that i can only get to Victoria if i'm travelling to Manchester from Huddersfield, but why would i do that when it's only the hourly all station stopper that calls there? All the others (the other 3 per hour go non stop to Picc). And if i'm going from Sheffield it is impossible to get to Victoria at all, unless they were to go from Romiley to Guide Bridge, then a reversal to Stalybridge, then another reversal there to Victoria. I always though Nottingham and Huddersfield were pretty nice stations, architechturally. I'm not a spotter either, but i do travel by train a hell of alot, almost daily backwards and forwards to Uni and i've travelled alot between Lincoln/Sheffield/Huddersfield and Manchester over the years, so you just kinda learn the routes/stations and train connection times from the top of your head. But that's what happens when you're reliant on public transport!
  4. also at the price it went for i wouldn't have gone that high anyhow.
  5. nope, the internet hours ran out... i couldn't get on again till one past midnight.
  6. Leeds is horrible too, i hate the place. Actually the worst station in existence must be Wakefield Kirkgate, it's practically derelict.
  7. Whattt! Manchester Victoria is a right dump, i refuse to use it. I go out of my way to go to Picc. I won't comment on Oxford Road Station.
  8. Well that depends entirely on the dealer. The ones i go to stock very very little decimal stuff, it's either the demonetised stuff chucked in a junk box, or it's the UNC/Proof sets. Rolls are not very common in this country in my experience, they exist yes! but finding them... I've seen lots of coin tubed coins from the 60s but they are all predecimal. Lots of 1971 copper coins are availabe bank wrapped, and i've even seen 1979 1/2p's like this too. (but they tend to be all the same date!) Oh and Olli i also saw one of the cashiers at Manchester Piccadilly Station busting open a roll of coins to throw in the till. (got me Northern bias in there! ) Admittedly Kuhli i'd quite like a roll of 20p's myself or £2 coins. But i think you might only be able to get these from banks. One good way of change searching is to go to a bank and change some cash for bags of change (at face value). (now some banks have started demanding you have an account before they will exchange, but some branches will still freely exchange with anyone who walks through the doors). Dealers however, in my experience, tend to focus on pre-decimal stuff as change collecting isn't very big over here because most of it is boring as there are no rarities to speak of (not ones that will ever be found in circulation that is).
  9. I've heard of Error World Chris and i've seen Laz before... Although i'm not sure if we actually met.
  10. i've seen that already!
  11. £30 sound about right, wouldn't go much over. (i'll probably forget to look till it's over), i will do some research on this wreck though just to make sure the bloke's got his facts right, (and not made it up! does happen you know, some of these 'shpiwreck coins' have nothing to do with a shipwreck at all, just inventive selling). And as it happens i do have an A-Level in archaeology. (nearly did it as a degree too, but proffessional archis don't get paid much, if they can even find steady employment).
  12. That's half the appeal... treasure/wreck/archaeology Much more so trhan the coin, but it does so appear that the coin is the right denomination, right time period and in better condition than mine (that's if it's not green) it's just the price i'm a bit concerned about, it'snot like these things are rare...
  13. i hope that the colour inversion he's got on there and that's not the real colour of the coin... I dunno what he means by 'wonderful condition' but i guess he means as 'wonderful' considering it as a wreck find... which i am inclined to agree http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7&category=4399
  14. I think i'd be setting my sights a little higher than change searching...
  15. lucky for some! Now when am i gonna find one? 2007?
  16. glad you're enthusiastic, no need to slow down on my behalf...
  17. you realise you've only been here a few days and you've already got over 100 posts!
  18. I went to a comp, and actually if i'm not wrong the nearest grammar school was a hell of alot rougher, indeed they were taking the students that got expelled from our comp school! (we didn't take any of theirs though! and a good proprortion of their female students either left pregnant or had kids shortly after... can't think of one from our year at my school though... that i know of) Also I only got B's on my science GCSEs, and chemistry was my fave subject. It's the biology that brought it down you know, either that or evil physics! (my maths is not good to say the least). Although i got a B on that too at GCSE I'm not even telling you what i got my one and only A in.
