    My guestbook was taken down earlier this morning. I am tired of deleting adverts. First the email link, then the contact page, and now the guestbook.

    Lately my website has been assaulted by Hotel Link things in my guestbook. So much so that I may have to ditch the guestbook on my site and make it no contact at all. I took my email off and then used a form, but that bombed so no way to email me, and now the guestbook may go.

    Gees, now I can tell my wife that the 6000 predecimals that I have in 20 kilogram bags are worth something, and maybe we can have dinner on them. Surely they are worth more than the £85 or so in face value.

    Are you sure this is not for the North of Scotland Bank and not the Northern Bank? North of Scotland Bank actually did have these banks, like most British Banks did. North of Scotland was merged with Clydesdale Bank in 1949 and became the Clydesdale and North of Scotland Bank, which lasted in name until 1964 when it reverted to just the Clydesdale Bank.

    From the title of the thread I thought we had a bad speller, but apparently we do, from 1673! That coin is really very fascinating, such pieces truly amaze.

    The serifs on the date numerals are not correct, the shallow design of St. George Slaying the Dragon is also strongly suggestive of this piece being a copy made for novelty purposes.

    In the grade it sounds like it is in, approximately £2 or so. When these are in better condition, especially the 1684's are rather scarce and can fetch £80 or more in EF.

    One of those rare instances where a token commemorating a British monarch and event was minted in Germany. It cannot be construed as too unusual though, for Wilhelm II was Victoria's grandson. At that time most of civilised Europe's monarchies were related to or descended from Victoria.

    I would love to collect sovereigns, I used to have quite a few of them, mostly SA and Aussie mints though.

    Actually you might want to examine those hammered, every year something new like a new variety is found, this is true with Scottish and English. One I recall from Mike Vosper's site was a Reading Penny from one of the Henry's. If you study up on the subject it might not be to awfully difficult to a reasonable cleaning job without damaging the coin.

    Nice, are these released for circulation? I have only San Marino 5 Euro Commem for the Torino games.

    Are these coins on display? I sure like to go to these sites and see the coins they have excavated on display, my personal favourite was seeing a Lord Calvert Penny from the 1650's at St. Marie's Citty in Maryland. They even sold very nice copies of the coin in the gift shoppe, I have probably 5-6 of them somewhere.

    Just a word of caution regarding MQoS coins, there are many more fakes of these than originals, which of course there are quite few known of now. Usually they are an event of note whence they appear in the auction house.
