  1. They are coming out of the ground as we speak. Good cnuts were available a few years back for about £60...they are now £200. Anything but a London mint for Ed 1's ...but a nice round coin can still tempt me. Unclipped shortcross hmmm nice...... but that Æthelred is a right bounder . From another thread (site) I note you are going gaellic (or at least low countries) I'm sorely tempted by The Silver Coins of Medieval France 476-1610 by James N Roberts (bargain at Amazon.com)but I'm worried this maybe a catalyst to open a massive hole in the Peter Coin funds.....Mrs Peter is on my case.
  2. I reckon you border boys experimented with tin coinage....it was all coroded by 17C. Some rulers didn't produce the coins (for whatever reason) Thank goodness for Edward 1.
  3. You paid its money but its only £35/40. Its a reasonable example. The underlying condition seems better than its rims (2oz of copper dents easily).
  4. Twas a long day...and today is proving longer Kill or cure tonight...Mrs Peter has a nice bottle of bordeaux airing...
  5. & less of the "god sites"
  6. It twas I & a fine piece of beef and exceptional Spanish Red...Aye.......along day.
  7. Anything with long legs is welcome in my house....as long as they are not dogs.
  8. Yep...Very difficult to grade....the Yanks grading system can't handle it because each coin is individual. Its all down to eye appeal/roundness of flan/depth of strike/no clipping etc etc. You really can't categorize it. Spinks pricing is only a guide, Good hammered examples between F & EF will always demand a premium. As struck can only grade F sometimes....that is the beauty of hammered.
  9. I think you are probably looking for a whitman folder or something ??? which aren't available for the new issues & only 2nd hand for the old issues. 2X2 flips in an album page would be your best bet (you can get pages which hold 20 flips)
  10. this thread can now be renamed..."Don't know where to stop"
  11. Have a look around and identify a series which is both pleasant to the eye and achievable to your pocket. Maybe start with Edward V11 coins...a shortish reign....many cheap coins but a few ZONKERS (1903,05 2/6 & 1905 1/-)....also plenty of varieties if you want to specialize on cu. At the end of the day you must decide yourself.
  12. I've seen these befoe. Try a google search on Joseph Moore model coinage.
  13. I've mentioned this before when forum members couldn't find links to Radio 3 counties.
  14. Thanks gents. I think selective developement is the way to go.
  15. Lovely token. I prefer a GVF currency.
  16. Has anyone advice on a budget photo printer with cheap running costs. I bought a Sony Cybershot camera for my young daughters at Xmas and can forsee my wallet rapidally emptying. We have a standard Lexmark printer (a few years old now) I don't want state of the art.
  17. Babypuppy1one seems to be intwined with the seller....hence the shill and scam. A while back a couple of anti scammers created Ebay User names and took on the Chinese scammers by bidding huge figures and leaving the Chinese fraudsters with big Ebay listing fees. Anyone wishing to accompany me in blasting some scammers?.....I need some advice from computer buffs on how to remain untraced !!!!!
  18. Pecks work is; English Copper,Tin and Bronze Coins in the British Museum 1558-1958. It is still the (serious) English Copper and Bronze collectors "must have" reference. It is now out of print but obtainable 2nd hand for between £100 and £200. The 2nd edition (1970) is best. Copies are fairly hard to locate....you just have to get lucky.
  19. Chris PM sent.
  20. Item 8370755292 What is the betting for shill bidding and these are a couple of scammers (girl power3 & babypuppylove)
  21. Sorry about the last post...I'm doing something wrong. The item is 8367347283 The challenge is to find a worse one.
  22. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1919-PENNY-HARD-TO-BE-BEAT-FOR-
  23. One day someone will list a 1952 or 54 1d at £7.99 in NF. Actually I saw a 1888 inverted 1 Double Florin once but I was amongst the masses
  24. Yeh Lockdales....a sort of trying Westminster but still Argos ish....the last place I would go for advice....unless you want to start UK slabbing.
