  1. His latest feedback (8th July) describes him fairly and accurately!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I must admit, when ebay announced that they would not let sellers leave negative feedback for buyers, I thought 'About time!' - I had not taken into account the existence of such ......... I have never seen such appalling feedback - a direct result of ebay's new policy.
  3. I think you are a little unkind to the U.S. system Hus, here is a link to Chris' comparison chart on the predecimal site. http://www.predecimal.com/gradingchart.htm However, as far as I can tell, it is only PCGS and NGC that can be relied upon (to some extent) to accurately grade British coins. CGS in the UK seem to be quite harsh in their grading - a good thing if it wasn't for the horror of .............. the slabbing!
  4. I believe a lot of US collectors will pay 'Top dollar' for rainbow and otherwise toned coins. I remember a while back, a Churchill Crown with rainbow toning making $500 in a Goldberg (I think) auction. It was then offered for sale in an ebay shop in the US. for about $3000.
  5. There is an 1822 Tertio coming up for auction in the US in the Goldberg Millennia sale later this month. However, these coins are expected to realise much higher prices than the estimates Here is a link: http://www.mkjassociates.com/cgi-bin/ilgvu...=46&lot=424
  6. This genuinely made me laugh! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=007
  7. Blimey! Very nice Hus............... are you a millionare? cos if so, I wonder if you could you see your way clear to lending me.............................................................................. ...................................................................!
  8. Hi and welcome! What a fantastic find Andrew. I have resumed metal detecting recently - on some Norfolk farmland. Found nothing but old iron horseshoes and nails!
  9. Don't all bid at once! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hundred-Years-Old-On...S:B:SRCH:GB:101
  10. Don't these Italians think of anything else! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEX-PENCE-1921_W0QQi...1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. Obviously there is something wrong with our hobby's PR when a significant proportion of the public think we will buy any old crap just so long as it's vaguely round and made of metal.
  12. Hi Welcome,try this site. www.tclayton.demon.co.uk/values/coins.html#index
  13. Am I missing the point here??? This has me beat! David
  14. You need to speak to a dealer, it may be that your coins are valuable, or if your relative was purely a date collector they may be less so. Age is not necessarily an indicator of value. The only address I came up with in Brum is: Birmingham Coins 30 Shafrmoor Lane, Acocks Green, Birmingham, B27 7RS Tel: 0121 707 2808 Fax: 0121 707 2808 David
  15. Clara I don't know where everyone is today - must have been a heavy night! Sorry to hear of the loss of your Great Aunt Can you post any pics? There is advice on the Forum about how to do this. Don't clean or polish any coins! David
  16. Scottishmoney I don't have many banknotes, however I bought this 30 years ago at a collectors fair - purely because I liked it. I know nothing about it, I expect you can enlighten me. David
  17. Whoops! you are correct I didn't read it properly! Perhaps it could do with a clean of some sort. I still think that it is a beautiful coin(scottishmoney's). I used some rubbing alcohol the other day to remove some light verdigris from a bronze penny.(It is good if the coin has not become corroded, and it does not interfere with any patina)
  18. I am very taken with this Swedish coin,it is very attractive and appears to be of superior quality to most British coins of that era with their smudged legends. As far as cleaning it goes - it looks perfect as it is, with just the right tone.
  19. I don't know how often they come up for sale, but I saw one on ebay about 3 months ago - went for about a grand. Seller was shown holding it between ungloved fingers! It had a nasty fingermark on the obv!!!!!!!! David
  20. Rob You are right, it is definitely a penny, check out the 1914 florin with Edward V11 on the obverse!!!! And there are many others. Enough said, avoid like the plague. David
  21. Yes it looks like the same one, there is some discolouration(verdigris?) around IND:IMP on both coins. He has some very expensive coins. On ebay the ME has had 600 views and the coin on sellers own website was listed 11 months ago. Rather surprising nobody has noticed before. David
