    I must admit, when ebay announced that they would not let sellers leave negative feedback for buyers, I thought 'About time!' - I had not taken into account the existence of such ......... I have never seen such appalling feedback - a direct result of ebay's new policy.

    I think you are a little unkind to the U.S. system Hus, here is a link to Chris' comparison chart on the predecimal site. http://www.predecimal.com/gradingchart.htm However, as far as I can tell, it is only PCGS and NGC that can be relied upon (to some extent) to accurately grade British coins. CGS in the UK seem to be quite harsh in their grading - a good thing if it wasn't for the horror of .............. the slabbing!

    I believe a lot of US collectors will pay 'Top dollar' for rainbow and otherwise toned coins. I remember a while back, a Churchill Crown with rainbow toning making $500 in a Goldberg (I think) auction. It was then offered for sale in an ebay shop in the US. for about $3000.

    You need to speak to a dealer, it may be that your coins are valuable, or if your relative was purely a date collector they may be less so. Age is not necessarily an indicator of value.     Whoops! you are correct I didn't read it properly! Perhaps it could do with a clean of some sort. I still think that it is a beautiful coin(scottishmoney's). I used some rubbing alcohol the other day to remove some light verdigris from a bronze penny.(It is good if the coin has not become corroded,and it does not interfere with any patina)

    I am very taken with this Swedish coin,it is very attractive and appears to be of superior quality to most British coins of that era with their smudged legends. As far as cleaning it goes - it looks perfect as it is, with just the right tone.

    I don't know how often they come up for sale, but I saw one on ebay about 3 months ago - went for about a grand. Seller was shown holding it between ungloved fingers! It had a nasty fingermark on the obv!!!!!!!! David

    Rob You are right, it is definitely a penny, check out the 1914 florin with Edward V11 on the obverse!!!! And there are many others. Enough said, avoid like the plague. David

    Yes it looks like the same one, there is some discolouration(verdigris?) around IND:IMP on both coins. He has some very expensive coins.On ebay the ME has had 600 views and the coin on sellers own website was listed 11 months ago. Rather surprising nobody has noticed before. David
