  4. Hurrah!! It worked! That was the insert to the wallet. This is the wallet! Ignore my e-mails, Chris! Trouble with image size!!

  7. Why not try this??? Here
  8. Ta! for that. I'm off to the USA next week. I'll keep a look out for them. It will save me having to cut the cards down to size.
  9. It looks as though Charles was up all night!
  10. Gulp!!
  11. I think you are talking about the coin albums not the wallets which have pockets of about 37x37mm. The albums are for 50x50mm coin cards.
  12. I have been toying with a method of keeping coins fairly static in the coin wallet pockets. I have bought (From Chris) some staple cpoin cards and cut each in two, then trimmed them to fit the pockets. Each resulting card has a transparent centre on which you can lay the coin to facilitate easy insertion and withdrawl. I trim the card sections to 35 x 35 mm which is the easiest size to slide in an out of the pockets. It would be great if you could buy them ready made to fit What do you think? _
  13. I see what you mean!!
  14. I just had this picture of a serf being paid for the month with a few silver pennies - and dropping them in the mud!
  15. The historians claim that only the upper ruling classes used coins, but youl'd think that they would at least make them "handleable". Imagine buying land in Edward Ist reign with a chest full of hammered pennies. It must have taken quite a while to count them!!
  16. OK! I'm getting serious now! It has puzzled me for years as to how people used the very small coins proliferating history. I mean the likes of Celtic units, Roman Quadrans and English hammered silver farthings. All of these were around 10 mm in diameter. When you think of being paid in that size coin you must wonder about how they kept the coins, in a purse or pouch etc without many losses. When you realise the value in material terms of an Edward III farthing it must have been very traumatic to lose one!! Any thoughts?
  17. I don't think I could mount one now - and NO! I didn't ride one in my youth!
  18. I've just received the ' Roman Base Metal Coins'. Ta! An excellent read. I've already started to re catalogue some of my later worn coins. Noticed the decimal scale in the back. I'm surprised it is still accurate! Handy too. Any though ts on Byzantine to follow up?
  19. I'm not too sure, but aren't these bicycles! In the coin sales. Here
  20. Am I missing something here? Unless The Collector's Coins GB 2005 is out of date already?Young Head Crown
  21. At least, Chris, it goes to show we all READ the book and not just put it on the shelf as reference!!
  22. At least the Whitehaven branch of Smiths has replaced the one I bought!!
  23. Can we keep these lists 'active' somewhere, Chris. It would form a good reference point for buyers! I've 'cut & pasted' to Word and saved with my coin information, but I'm not guaranteed to see all stolen lists unless pointed out.
