  1. Any pictures...coins with no date are usually quite hard to date...could be 1672 (BMC 520) where the O seperated from the tie ribbon...
  2. St. Simplicius (468-83), Blessed Victor III, and Blessed Gregory X (1271-76) are the ones who worry me...imagine having a Pope Blessed Vicor in the 21st Century... (1700th Post )
  3. I noticed this too...not very convincing to me at the moment...
  4. It is definately a Third Farthing due to the uneven line under britannia...
  5. Click here for a list of all the popes... ...and when was the last Pope James, or Jacob as such...
  6. Go to where ever the picture is located on your computer, right click on the image and click 'edit' (preferably with Microsoft Paint). Then click 'File', 'Save As', and save it as a 'Jpg' image. You could alternatively go to a website such as photobucket.com, upload the picture there and give us a link to it.
  7. Looks like a spade guinea token to me...(do not go by my judgement though as I am not positive).
  8. Hallelujah indeed...I agree with you that it is anoying having to "trawl through loads of rubbish!" Although I would prefer to view the coins on eBay in houses (Hanover, Sax-Coberg Gotha etc...)
  9. Small Question: Why, on the dropdown browser menu, does http://www.predecimal.com/forum have a '£' sign next to it?
  10. Google Results
  11. Yes it does...but what other coin could it be?...maybe the farthing was flatened a little in order to merge with the threepence.
  12. Nice to see that you are still with us Sylvester...how is your collection of Pocket Watches going?
  13. I would keep it as a token if I were you...or you could just sell it on ebay - I am sure there are collectors of this sort. May I ask out of curiousity, what date is the farthing?
  14. It is an 1897 Threepence. We will need more information to value it, condition etc...
  15. Another hobby that I have is Genealogy (researching family trees etc...). Today I found out that my Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather was called Stephen Weston, and married my Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandmother Elizabeth Field on 11th October 1789
  16. Glad you bought this up, today also marks my 1st anniversary of being a predecimal forum member aswell . Also thanks to everyone here, especially Chris for creating this great forum, I hope that this next year will be just as interesting.
  17. no need to post this twice...here
  18. I'm still here
  19. Never new that
  20. I've just found a token (presumably) within my collection that I know nothing about. It is silver in colour, and has a hole in the middle with 3D P E on one side, and VALUE IN KIND ONLY on the other side... Any ideas of where it originates from?
  21. Ages ago, I printed off the entire Royal Mint's coinage dictionary for reference. There are many other places I could get information from, but putting it all in alphabetical order would be a massive task so sticking to one or two sources would not get to confusing...
  22. So would I be safer to email the Royal Mint asking for permission to do what I am doing?
  23. On my website, I am thinking of adding a Coinage dictionary. Would it be breaching the copyright laws if I was to copy a definition of a coinage term but reword some of it? Example: The royalmint has "Ae - Abbreviation for the Latin Aes (bronze), used for coins made in brass, bronze and other copper alloys." I put "Ae - Abbreviation for the Latin Aes, used for coins struck in brass, bronze and other copper alloys." Would I need to change more of this? Thanks
  24. There is no link to The Collectors Society on the forums page Also, could you change the link to my site to www.mjmdcoins.tk instead of www.mjmdcoins.a11.net? Thanks
