  1. it was a good idea of yours oli, and i think it is a good way to collect... it would, yes, but i want to keep my 1900's coins seperate from my 1800's coins... if i see a good looking penny from say stage 3 that is on sale for a bargain price, i may want to buy it...i am mainly focusing on 'stage 1', but every little addition to my collection helps...
  2. Wow, so it hasn't been updated since 1981, before I was born! and i think that that is the way that chris will probably want to keep it...
  3. i keep the stamps that i get on the coins that i have purchased through the post, so far the furthest i have gone from england with stamps is germany (thanks chris ), but i dont have a clue about them either...
  4. well, some of it was given to me, but the other ones are ones that i have bought...
  5. as you may have read, i have been colecting for about 6 months now, and my penny collection started about 3 - 4 months ago...
  6. yep, i have worked out that i am 11% through stage 1, 2% through stage 2, 4% through stage 3, and 0% through stage 4... these are the stages: Stage 1 = 1900 - 1967 Stage 2 = Victoria Bronze (1860 - 1899) Stage 3 = Victoria Copper (1839 - 1860/59) Stage 4 = 1797 (George III) - 1837 (William IV)
  7. because i do not like the silver pennies as much as copper/bronze...after/if i manage to get all of the availible pennies between 1797 - 1967 in EF - BU condition then i will probably start half pennies...
  8. copper and bronze (1797 - 1970)
  9. are they your top 5 bu halfpennies? my top 5 bu pennies are: 1.1927 BU 2.1970 proof BU 3.1962 (i love the toning on it) BU 4.1937 BU 5.1938 BU ...but the 1901 penny that i bought will probably go to no.1
  10. sorry to go off topic here, but i have notised that instead of member, me and the others who visit the forum regularly are now in the numismatic group...is this because of this book?
  11. it was an ammusing mistake
  12. you have every oppertunity to get better then him...what age did he start collecting?
  13. I like the way you spelt "Chris", very amusing! chris said it when he said this:
  14. looks like a nice coin, i would say go for it, it does have 7 days left, so it may exceed £30, but i would get it if i collected half pennies...but it does look as if some of the hair is worn...
  15. i wouldent make fun of the person you look up to custard hehe, first jesus, now chrisP
  16. i am also not familiar with it, but i think it is quite easy to understand it with the pictures in your book shop chris
  17. these are only suggestions remember!
  18. because it was with a starting price of £9.00, and i really liked it. i basicly didnt want someone to buy it over my bid...
  19. maybe the colour could be something like spinks, not a 'fixed' background, but a textured one...and maybe include a brilliant condition edward VII coin, or something like that... i take it that the George III coin book and the collectors coins book are both by the same writer, maybe you could scrap the george III book and put george III coinage in the collectors coins book, and then raise the price by say £2 maybe...
  20. i've just bought it, i hope it was the right decision...i had no 1901 pennies in fine + condition...
  21. i have been looking at this, it looks quite nice for £15.00, what do you think about me getting it, its just that something looks strange about it...?
  22. i think it looks ok at the moment, but the layout could be a bit better, it (as oli said) looks slick
