  1. OOOOH! Blue Peter! Ask for more badges
  2. Great to have you in discussions Martin! The halfpennies are great by the way!
  3. I cant believe this: Link Laurence Chard bought it aswell! There must be a huge demand for BU bronzes if that price was achieved for such a common coin! I might just sell some of my coins in the same condition!
  4. Sounds extremely dodgy to me.....
  5. I'm not going in February.....financially crippled due to expensive other half!
  6. Where do you see William Geoff? I guess he is feeling the stress of REAL homework for the first time in his life!
  7. Has anyone noticed the apparent absence of William recently? I don't think I've seen any evidence of him being on here in at least a month or more. He hasn't been on msn either.
  8. Just an honest opinion.......Tony Blair is in my opinion trying to ban fox hunting in order to make this society more multicultural and not making everyone who opposes or is not familiar with foxhunting uncomfortable or angry. This move will be similar to the move by some town councils and business banning Chrismas trees and nativity scenes.
  9. I dread English, I hate my class, its so childish! I am quite good at it though as it happens. We are currently doing a piece of coursework based on "To Kill a Mickingbird", I am enjoying it so far. My faviorite subject is French, I don't know why but I just love it! We have a french assistant who comes in most lessons and I talk to her in french for most of the lesson whilst everyone learns the basics!
  10. Yes, so would I! A mysterious bug! The fairs are always on a saturday or sunday though.
  11. I think it's February 5th. I am not going until the one after that though which will be on June 11th I think?
  12. Ah I can see it now, it is definately 1736.
  13. Or it could be a forgery?
  14. That looks strangely like a farthing to me JMD.
  15. I've racked my brain and stared at my proof halfpenny until my eyes were sore, and I have concluded that it is a bronzed proof Observe 1 Reverse B. I couldn't tell the difference between the two reverse varieties until I looked at the Nicholson ones. I don't know if it was ever in the proof set but I do know that there were more minted individually and given to VIP's.
  16. !!! 1684 or 1685? I only like the tin farthings if the date and the legend can easily be read... For the early milled book...if it was 1685...what price was it...i dont have any prices yet for 1685 farthings I think it was 1684. It was part of a selection of high grade and rare coins being offered for auction sometime next year. It was a special preview or so I was told!
  17. Yes it was tin! You would have loved it Sylvester! It was right beside a BU 1902 Low Tide Penny!
  18. Ah you've reminded me! Today I saw a beautiful problem free VF/EF Charles II farthing, it was a beauty!
  19. Copper and Bronze are supreme.........you just ahve to accept it Sylvester!
  20. You should go, its great! The bronzed proof is marvellous, I paid a very low price for it aswell which makes me even happier!
  21. The London Coin Fair was excellent! There was the usual mix of dealers, Chris, Saltford Coins, Mark Rasmussen etc. aswell as Andy from Online Coins and a few other new faces. The variety of material was astounding, everything you could ever think of was for sale. No less than two 1831 crowns, two Una and the Lion £5's, an 1821 silver proof set , numerous 1847 crowns, and much much more. I got to handle one of the Una and the lion £5's, as well as some of the 1847 crowns! One cannot appreciate the true character of a coin until you actually handle it and see it in it's true light. As well as doing all that and more, I increased my collection by purchasing the following coins: 1. 1935 BU halfpenny. 2. 1929 BU halfpenny. 3. 1916 BU halfpenny. 4. 1918 BU halfpenny. 5. 1902 BU Low Tide halfpenny. 6. Another BU 1925ME halfpenny. 7. Bronzed Proof 1826 FDC halfpenny (absolutely beautiful!) All in all the Fair was a great time for everyone! Btw Oli, I could not see and 1826 sixpences. I spoke to a few dealers and they said that they had only seen a few in low grade. They are becoming increasingly scarce apparently.
  22. Made from a 1911-1927 penny it is a very unconvincing fake. I really wouldn't pay that much for it. £20 at the most!
  23. Agreed well done Chris and everyone who helped. May it be the first of many 'new look' editions. I've just noticed that the 1934 crown on the front cover is the same as the one advertised by Colin Cooke in his advert in september's Coin News, I think that he bought it from Colin via Ebay. What a wonderful example!
  24. The post is terrible! I was supposed to get a package from Chris four weeks ago, it came yesterday! We had assumed that it had got lost in the post!
  25. We'll make up for it when we get older!
