  1. Minnie The Minx the Third, I think....
  2. My sister?
  3. ..and even more when in a city (- the silver contacts in audio mixing consoles need special attention in polluted air ). Mind you, surely that sort of rubbing with fingers or a polishing cloth generate one type of worn surface, and continual abrasion from pockets or being slid across shop counters generate another? Thinking of this abrasion, and misquoting Shakespeare in Peckis' vein: "To sleep, perchance to dream, is illogical, Captain - aye, there's the rub...: "To be or not to beam me up Scotty."
  4. Ooh- just had a thought- surely the more commonly used denominations would wear more quickly? I can't see a crown moving about as much as a shilling....
  5. How many times on an antiques programme has a piece of silver been seen with the hallmark polished out??? I pop curio coins that I want to de-polish into my pocket, and yes, all that happens is a change in tone, and in the case of a dark bronze coin, the high spots lighten, but that's it. To shift from UNC to VF say, would take years and years...
  6. Exactly my view of the RM at times..
  7. A few people I have met in Norway have described the Swedes as 'The English of Scandinavia '....
  8. I bet it's worth nothing, until there are about 20 known, when the price then goes crazy. I have a few one-offs that I'm sitting on just in case....:)
  9. Got this the other day. Any views?
  10. Found this the other day- small 8 over larger 8??? In the hand it's really clear, but a pig to photograph!
  11. Particularly if the acetone has removed any protective grease/oil traces, so the air can now do it's work....
  12. This forum is sometimes the best Envy Management Course available. It should be on the NHS.
  13. I have no idea. I neither know nor care.
  14. You for great love have this. And with coin has a good time. See? Easy!!
  15. Or somebody turning up at a Recording Studio tech weekend with a bottle of 24 year old Port Ellen.....it happened, and won't happen again.....
  16. I'm from Kidderminster, about 6 miles down the road from Stourbridge. I lived in Stourbridge for a few years. I've been watching this thread and it's ben entertaining and interesting. Are the outside advertising rim added to the coin generally aluminium?
  17. I was considered by the Committee for arbitration once, at a party in Brighton. Vey painful.
  18. Ssssshhhh Mike, I have a sealed tube of them from the first day, 15th Feb, 1971......yours for £72K. Don't tell anyone....
  19. Agreed, Mike- it's all going into my 1909 ident file....thanks Terry!
  20. If I had kept the ebay picture of a set of pennies and put it in this thread, everyone would say the '1' of the 1909 was over a tooth. When it arrived it so hilariously wasn't. Just the angle of the light. That's all it was. And this was a good VF+ example.
  21. Looks like it to me from that pic. I usually check by looking at the 'N' pointing in 'ONE, but this one is tricky...
  22. My once-owned 1927 3d had obvious circulation wear on it - 15,022 from memory? hazelman put it well- the history in my pocket in the 60's as a kid was fascinating. I remember so clearly being given an 1860 penny in the Co-op on the corner of Crowther street ( gone) in Kidderminster in about 1967 and just staring at it in wonderment- how could this still be in use after over 100 years??? I suppose people think the Very Rare 1971 penny is ancient....
  23. You've met her, then.... Counselling is available.
