  1. Agreed- so, in Germany, all shipping is done in wooden crates, plastic containers, or metal drums? No cardboard boxes allowed? I didn't believe Rob at first ( I think is is unsurprising, given the bizarre arcane nature of this) so I looked uo the German Postal Rules, according to the RM site, and yes, he was quoting.....
  2. Nice one Jerry! I should say 'sorry'- not you- I bid you up!!!!!! I was rather hopeful at Xmas- good beer, pile of interesting cheeses, penny £3.00 with a minute to go....:-)
  3. Anyone here buy the unattributed 1911 hollow neck this week off ebay? I was second bidder- not enough spare cash, but it was a nice bargain for someone!
  4. Apparently I've been informed it's a small (!) tooth from Carcharodon Plicatilis, a big shark from the Pliocene.... Condition vf( rev) gvf ( obv )
  5. Warts and all, eh?
  6. ...which then totally screws up the lives of his family. Lovely. I'm allergic to children like that. They come out in bruises.
  7. I know nothing whatsoever about this type of coin. BUT It's just looks wrong to me too- the colour- two tone -one wrong light coloured alloy treated in some way, with the dark bits all perfectly uniformly coloured. Nope- looks recently made -a 20 minute patina applied in a factory, rather than 250 years of hanging around in the back of a drawer....
  8. You missed out " §•¶ªººººº¢#¢€¡ºº˚¡ " but maybe you thought there may be children reading this....
  9. WOW! Almost as good as my F76! I wish......:-)
  10. ooh...I'm a bit amazed at the response, Gentlemen. I know it's a bit of a rarity, but I assumed that there were many other better specimens belonging to the members of this esteemed forum.... Not a bad deal at £16, I thought. No really - you read that correctly🙂
  11. Your wish...... (I've cleaned the bad blobs of crap off since.)
  12. Mike- my thoughts exactly. Came in very cheap, a gamble on a fuzzy picture, and I like it in this condition- it's been in circulation, and it's humanised to some extent. Obviously, if a BUNC one came in cheap I'd be pleased, but I'd _like_ this one more...
  13. Here's my more worn F69- maybe helpful....
  14. St Giles, Cheadle, and Whitley Court chapel are really worth a look too. Chartres is just beautiful. Mind you Cologne Cathedral makes me have trouble breathing....
  15. 'So...' at the beginning of a statement. 'Enquiry' as opposed to 'inquiry'....
  16. 'awesome ' is irritating to us because of the the extent and accent. We probably use 'awful' just as much, but we don't notice, but to others, our extent and accent probably grate. I rather feel the two cancel each other out. "15 items or less" in a supermarket here. "15 items or fewer" in California. One is correct...... Very unique. Oh- not forgetting the House of Commons 'We must insure this happens' etc etc.... language evolves, and there's nothing you can do about it. To find out how much, play scrabble with a 90 year old and wait for the complaints about the 'words' you play.....
  17. They will always do things like this whilst funded by people who 'believe' in their 'usefulness'.... .....one born every minute.
  18. Shot in the dark - I've only ever heard the 'rasher' joke once before- mid 90's, on the Radio 4 show I mentioned....
  19. 'Wildebeest Years' with Dan and Nick reference there, Mike?
  20. Sorry- couldn't resist....
