  1. Katy, Yes of course you can: Tel: 0871 871 5122 email: cp@predecimal.com I tell you what, this would probably make interesting radio! How would you like to come to BBC Luton and tell the BBC Three Counties Radio listeners how you found the treasure and what it consists of etc etc? I could look at it on air and even arrange to purchase it on air (which would probably be a radio first!). I'm sure DJ John Pilgrim would be pleased to have you in for his afternoon programme. My next slot will be in early June.
  2. What an interesting find. If the coins have been underground for a long time, they probably are not in the best shape. Luckily they seem to date from when coins contained silver, so they will have value for silver content at least. Where are you and the coins, I'd like to have a look at them with a view to purchase. I'll offer my usual silver buying price at least, and the offer will be larger if any of them are in collectable conditions. It's probably best to clean them all with soap and water, but nothing else as cleaning/polished will destroy and collectable coins.
  3. This offer is aimed entirely at the younger members, particularly the regular faces in here. Some money has been made available by another forum member (who shall remain anonymous, unless he comes clean in here) to pay for attendance to the the June 11th London coin fair. Travel expenses (train or petrol money) for you and an adult guardian will be covered, as well as the admission fee into the fair. Those interested in applying for a Predecimal.com Coin Fair grant should be in full time education (so, yes, that includes you Sylvester old man!) and should be an enthusiastic young collector preferrably from mainland Great Britain (sorry NI). Talk in here, or PM me. (The 'London Coin Fair' is on Saturday 11th June, at the Holiday Inn, Coram Street, London WC1. I'll be there selling stuff, so will Andy Bruce, and no doubt other familiar faces! Be there, or be a Churchill Crown)
  4. PM your address and I'll send a free one. You should have got a free one long ago!
  5. I didn't realise you did it all yourself! I don't know what I'd do without the family run hosting company I use.
  6. Not strictly a coin, it would appear to be a privately produced ounce of silver bullion, made to look like a US coin. I expect it'll be worth whatever the current price is for an ounce of silver.
  7. Neil Paisley told me that it would be run as usual, with him at the helm.
  8. (I have announced this already HPJ. I've merged this with the other topic)
  9. Well, I've emailed him now to see what the current situation is with At-Hlan, and to ask if he has any other books up his sleeve.
  10. The Bromcom system is expensive, depending on the size of the school they were usually around £30,000 plus annual maintenance I think. I wasn't really involved with sales. Usually failures are caused by the staff at the school being about as technically minded as a hippo. There were problems from time to time of course, and I think many schools should be using SQL systems by now. When i was with bromcom it was Windows NT/2000 with basically DOS based software running in windows. I left when they started the mammoth task of switching everyone over.
  11. If you have the Bromcom system at your school JMD, then I've probably visited it on more than 1 occassion! And if you started with Bromcom between 2000 - 2002 there's a very good chance I even installed it and trained the staff!
  12. I could have built one myself too (I used to work as a field engineer for www.bromcom.com and spent time on on PC build). This faithful machine that I've used for 5 years was my work. I just couldn't be bothered to do it myself, they've got the bits ready, and this is so much quicker and easier. When you have so many different things to do you really have to outsource to survive! This is the spec: Intel Pentium IV 3.0GHz 800 FSB With HT & Prescott 1024 MB DDR400 Corsair Memory 250GB Seagate Hard Disk Award Winning ASUS Motherboard NEC DVD ReWriter ND3520A 16x Dual Layer & Dual Format ATI Radeon 9200 128MB Graphics With TV-OUT Sony Floppy Drive 6 Channel Sound (5.1 Surround Sound) 14x USB2 Ports Firewire Serial ATA 10/100 Ethernet LAN Adapter Mini Tower Case That'll do me I think.
  13. I've upgraded my current pretty slow PC as far as it will go. Recently I bought a 1.3mhz CPU for it, but I've since found out that I have to update the BIOS before it will accept it, so I thought I'd take that risk after ensuring I had a replacement in place just in case it becomes corrupt in the process! So, I just ordered a PIV 3.0 Ghz machine with 1GB RAM and a 250mb HDD. From http://www.computerelectronics.co.uk/ I would have loved to have bought one in Germany and saved the cost of postage, but I cannot for obvious reasons get an operating system in any other language than German, and I'd really prefer English. The extra speed and capabilities should help me when setting up books and doing other graphic intensive tasks. And I'll be able to burn DVD's for the first time. The current PC is really struggling now. So there you are, in case anyone was remotely interested.
  14. I thought I heard that copper was a natural slight antibiotic.
  15. Dr Sriro will know, Email him, tell him I sent you, and ask if he wouldn't mind looking at the pictures you have: gsriro @ adelphia.net (remove the spaces either side of @ first)
  16. Use the 'File Attachments' area when you make a posting.
  17. He was 61 and the cause of death was a thrombosis.
  18. Forumees, It is with great sadness that I anounce the loss of a fellow British Coin website proprietor and distinguished expert in his field. Colin Cooke passed away in hospital on Thursday 21st April. In his memory, and to show my gratitude for the help and information that he provided for CCGB2005, I shall be dedicating the 2006 edition to him. His website will continue as normal, run by his experienced staff members.
  19. I'll shortly be getting in contact with Roger Keenan (via telephone I hasten to add, I'm not as good as he is on the austral plane!) and maybe I'll ask him if At-Hlan wants to dictate something else, or if they'll both consider a re-print of 'The Voice of At-Hlan'. There is a big audience for spiritual other worldly kind of books at the moment isn't there!
  20. I don't think I'd call that a strong EF, and the toning is yuk. Leave it well alone at £49 I'd say!!
  21. I don't know, how long's a piece of string? (you need to be more specific, most are very common and not that expensive. Modern copies are all over the place at the moment, and contemporary coronation commemoratives are also common)
  22. Resend the list please, to cp@predecimal.com (if you sent to predecimalcoins, that isn't me).
  23. No I didn't. Are you sure it's the same Cosmi?
  24. Ah, it's shaky but it works now.
  25. Yes I know, but that doesn't always mean that they will be www.companyname.com.... And I was too lazy to try different top level doms, .co.uk .com etc www.cosmi.com doesn't seem to work actually.
