Had nothing on today so took a trip to the University of Manchester Museum. Among other things there's a full exhibition room dedicated to world currency throughout the ages, 100's of pieces dating from 2500 B.C - Present. Coins, tokens, medals, ingots, plates, dies. My personal favourites were the Charles I siege issues, a Cromwell pattern crown and some rather nice 5 guinea pieces. Also exhibited are some locally unearthed Roman finds....I've been pricing up metal detectors already !! Here's a link to the website if you're interested. Well worth a visit, and best of all it's FREE http://www.museum.manchester.ac.uk/collection/money/
