  1. Just purely information,if you have an electric toothbrush or something with a strong vibrating motor you can rotate the coin.Holding it to the left or right side rotates it in different directions, not sure if it works on CGS slabs. It will work for the american holders.

  2. Is that a serious offer. I've been looking to get my 1937 proof crown reslabbed as a one off. It originally came out of a PCGS slab but I guess an NGC slab would do the trick. There is very little difference in terms of marketability between NGC & PCGS. And interesting comment by William Conroy in this LinkedIn discussion: http://www.linkedin.com/groups/NGC-ICG-PCGS-148283%2ES%2E5846925117900230656?qid=6f0cac44-91f5-41dc-9e1f-5871f11195f7&trk=groups_most_recent-0-b-ttl&goback=%2Egde_148283_member_273929632%2Egmr_148283

  3. Welcome to the forum Dan. You have come to the right place for friendly advice. Apart from all of the above you can also wade through coin aquisition of the week thread. Thereyou will see many of the various coins members have bought and posted there for all to see, going through some of the 225 Pages might also tweak your interest in a certain denomination and types such as hammered or milled. Its a good place to start but for gods sale DO NOT go in the TPG section until you've been collecting for a few years, its a minefield and can get quite heated, you have been warned

  4. What did you think about the results for lot 43 - Wyon's Incorrupta pattern? Did that sell? Seemed like the best I've seen, beautiful toning. I love Wyon's patterns. One of these days, maybe I can afford an UNA! I've always had this fantasy about being on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and getting to the million dollar question .. which asks "What type of item did the Victorian design 'Una and the Lion' appear on?" A. A toilet bowl B. A gold coin C. A tea service D. A London tram I'd look across at Tarrant and I'd say, "You know Chris - I know the answer to this one". Well, I can dream, can't I? I'll be your 'phone a friend', for half the winnings!

  5. The reason for this was artificial bids. The coin is not Richard I but Henry III. Saxby's are always selling coins misdescribed and commit fraud each week. I suspect that this coin was picked out as one example to make a point to Benjamin Stocks. but I await to see.

  6. Coins rotating in holders without prongs is fairly common. It can happen slowly over time, or in jostling of shipments. What I find more humorous than the positioning of the coin in the holder (which doesn't really affect the coin at all IMO) is that they assigned a grade of "Verdigris UNC". As if "verdigris" is some sort of benign adjectival modifier for uncirculated.
