  2. Hi Mike To answer your question I personally have only seen four of the Aa type . Below is a picture of the four types I have come across . Top is Ac with the 1 directly over the tooth [ I have seen about six of this type]. Next down is the normal common type Ab with the 1 slightly to the left of the tooth but the 1 its self is almost touching the tooth . Third down is very similar to Ab but the 1 is more to the left of tooth and importantly has a gap between it and the tooth { not listed by Gouby as its to similar to the common Ab type} bottom is Aa with the 1 directly over the gap between the teeth , all three of the rare types have that space between the 1 and the row of outer teeth, as Pete has already said
  3. I think its the common one and yes they do look similar and why they are often confused. That i do know as bought a few that have gone straight in the bin.
  4. It does look similar hard to say, I dont have the coin to hand. It cost me £1 so worth a punt.
  5. Me too. At first he he said he'd counted the border teeth and it was genuine but when I sent him pictures with the teeth numbered, he relented.
  6. The one i sold which is the same as the book.

  8. Does look like one, to be sure would be better without the lines, although you have it in hand and should be easy to tell. A good indicator indicator is a gap between the last 1 and the tooth below. Also your own seems to hang over the right of the tooth rather than above it. These are only tiny differences and why its often confused with the common one. I am more drawn to being the common one Serifs and gap dont look right although would be much better without the last line which is a distraction.
  9. Not the best picture so its difficult to really see. The central line of the last one appears to fall in the gap.
  10. Easier just to share a clear picture of the date of the one you have.
  11. Since you mention there is another not listed in Gouby possibly its not BP1901Aa the one I have.
  12. I did read it yes. I found what I think is a BP1901Aa and was simply wondering how rare they are.
  13. Correct although in High grade i have only seen Terrys. Looking at your picture and reading your comments, maybe you have just read my post from the one i sold a couple of weeks ago ?
  14. I was under the impression they are rare in any grade with only a handful known?
  15. Ok thanks, Gouby BP1901Ab 10 3/4 teeth the center of the last one is not over the gap. The one which is not covered by Gouby similar to Ab where is the last 1 positioned? Thanks
  16. Rare in High grade although often confused with BP1901Ab which is the normal one, there is also one not in Gouby as very similar to Ab. Terry is probably the best person to ask as the coin pictured in the book is his.
  17. In your collection do you have a 1901 Penny, NARROW Date, BP1901Aa? How rare are these? I remember reading somewhere they are few and far between. Thanks,
  18. I messaged them too and have just had a reply - thanking me and saying they have taken the item down.
  19. Thankyou. Worked on the first and its' sisters and brothers. Nice Kit. And I have an EB35 tucked away next to the R1155.
  20. Yesterday
  21. still to be engraved...just need to find someone trustworthy. ....... 🤔😟
  22. Another replica penny on Ebay - I've messaged the seller but he hasn't taken it down. I hope no-one falls for it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/287481861974?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e111028.m43.l1123&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=ee1821cbf0274276908e6d80f2933171&bu=43154646029&osub=-1~1&crd=20260724145657&segname=111028
  23. I think the coin is 9+K for the following reasons, can you let me know what you think please? Obverse: Its not obverse 7 because the first set of leaves are not nearly touching the colon after DG - Looks to have 16 leaves. - 1st set of leaves are arranged different to Obverse 8 which are more spread out. - The ribbon shows some crimping. - The nape hair seems to match up. Reverse: The lighthouse resembles most the lighthouse shown on reverse K and the date numerals are widely spaced and low in the exergue. Could you please let me know what die pairing you think the coin is. Thanks
  24. It's expensive to ship in- you pay exide duty on it. See what I did there?
  25. It certainly IS (both) !
  26. I see a similar example on Secret Santa's website where the 5 looks to be doubled. Seems like there are infinite variations.
