"Today we have been grading Groats and Silver Threepences.Small silver is always very popular, and the Threepence is arguably the most popular of all the denominations."

Not sure I agree!

Perhaps they meant to say "the Threepence is arguably the least popular of all the denominations"

Depends what exactly he means. Threepences have traditionally been popular with casual collectors, and there is no problem obtaining a date run in reasonable (say VF) condition. However, in higher grades this becomes much more problematic, which kind of implies that the threepence circulated widely and relatively few seem to have survived in top condition.

So, it might be argued that the coin was popular with the public because so few high grade specimens survive or that it is a popular collectable with casual collectors. In the case of more serious collectors, I don't think I would put the humble 3d at the top of the list. More likely the Victorin bun penny, maybe.

Lol, looks like Ingrams Have deleted me as i have'nt seen that Post. When they were posting previously with their "high grade" coin blurb with their usual 6 foot away from the coin picture i would download it, crop out The shite and re-upload in the comments And you could see the coin not being as high grade as stated, Obviously the Reason they like pictures at distance :)
