niyuco Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Penny collectors may be interested in the next London Coins sale where I have entered several coins from my personal collection, including an 1862/1 overdate. The photo in the catalogue isn't the best but it's actually a very clear overdate. Here is my photo taken with a macro lens:The last time one of these was publicly offered for sale to my knowledge was 2006 (DNW - Laurie Bamford sale)
declanwmagee Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 ooh, Lot 1837. That's a far better pic than the one in their glossy...
Accumulator Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Thank you for the heads-up and the better photo! Are you selling pennies generally, or just your duplicates?
Gary Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) Did I not read somewhere that there is only 1 known example of this coin? Go on shoot me down Edited February 26, 2014 by Gary
Nordle11 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Lot 386.. Isn't the 1953 beaded/toothed believed to be unique?
Accumulator Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Lot 386.. Isn't the 1953 beaded/toothed believed to be unique? It was once believed to be unique, but certainly isn't. DNW sold a different one in a VIP set last year. 1
niyuco Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Thank you for the heads-up and the better photo! Are you selling pennies generally, or just your duplicates?Mostly sold already but I've saved the better ones for last. I'm doing a degree and the fees are expensive so they've gotta go.Did I not read somewhere that there is only 1 known example of this coin? Go on shoot me down Gouby said 2 but that doesn't include this one. I think there might be 1 or 2 more around somewhere. It's probably not more than 5 and none better than Fine that I know of...
Bronze & Copper Collector Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) It's nicer than mine..... the image in Michael.Gouby's book...I think I had seen 2 others at auction plus 1 in a collection...Could be a duplicate amongst them though.....Probably a few others that we aren't aware of too....
