Gary1000 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 We were copying across all the data on our working drive overnight to a new drive. This pushed the old drive over the edge so we now have nothing and I've nothing to do so here's some light entertainment.A traveling salesman visits a small town in the Midwest and sees acircus banner reading: "Don't Miss The Amazing Scotsman." Curious, he buysa ticket. The tent goes dark. Suddenly, trumpets blare and all eyesturn to the center ring. There, spot lit in the center ring is a tablewith three walnuts on it. Standing next to it is an old Scotsman.Suddenly the old man lifts his kilt, whips out a huge penis and smashesall three walnuts with three mighty swings! The crowd erupts in applauseas the elderly Scot is carried off on the shoulders of the crowd.Ten years later the salesman visits the same little town and he sees afaded sign for the same circus and the same: "Don't Miss the AmazingScotsman." He can't believe the old guy is still alive much less stilldoing his act! So he buys a ticket.Again, the center ring is illuminated. This time, instead ofwalnuts, three coconuts are placed on the table. The Scotsmanstands before them, then suddenly lifts his kilt and smashes thecoconuts with three swings of his amazing member. The crowd goes wild! Flabbergasted, the salesman requests a meetingwith him after the show."You're incredible," he tells the Scotsman. "But I have to knowsomething. You're older now, why switch from walnuts to coconuts?"Well, says the Scot: "Me eyes are nae whit they used to be." Quote
declanwmagee Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) I used to do that for a living too Gary. (Server support, I mean, not breaking coconuts..! ) One night my boss rang me up about 9pm in a panic because he'd been putting a new drive into a server (Novell NetWare 3.11 days, mind!) and did a straight bit copy from the old to the new with ARCServe. But he'd done it the wrong way around so it had immediately overwritten the entire company data with the contents of the empty drive, i.e. nothing. There were only 2 of us running the IT for about 200 users, so I went straight to the chip shop and we had to do an all-nighter to get everything restored from tape before the next morning. They didn't notice...so mission accomplished! Edited June 7, 2013 by declanwmagee Quote

Even towards the end of that career, when I was the boss, my job was to go and get the chips and stay with the techies, making coffee during the inevitable all-nighters! Quote
