azda Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 This coin sold at DNW today for a nice 1800 quidand here's one i have that's been sitting around the bay for a while at less than half of DNWs price, i cannot see much difference in grades, can you? It'll be getting submitted to the next DNW sale if that's the price they're getting Quote
Rob Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I'd say yes. I was thinking about bidding on that one depending on what happened to the 1800 half, but the former went to £2500 and then the front doorbell rang. Quote

I'm struggling to see any difference in the OBVs, obviously My picture is massive and will show warts an all, but the wear on the laurels on both Coins look the same to me Quote
Rob Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Your coin has too many tiny blemishes. The grade also looks a bit worse to my mind with the flat hair, though I can see a dig on the cheek of the DNW coin. I wouldn't pay £1800 hammer for it, but then I wouldn't spend nearly £800 on your coin either, preferring to spend that sort of money on a really nice cheaper date when it eventually comes along. VickySilver Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 The first with a bit of soft strike but I would rate as unc./GEF. The second has way too many scarfs, scratches, etc. and should be values IMO at 50% or less of the first. Quote
Rob Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 £775 with offers I'll throw in a full stop for free. £7.75 Quote

The dinner plate size doesn't help perhaps, but the second coin hasn't got the same eye appeal of the DNW example IMO. Quote
