You will be 15 right?.. At that age, my Birthday money went on bottles of Diamond White Cider and a 20 pack of Red Band smokes!

I did not vote, as I do not know what coins you prefer. If I were you, I would spend my money on the best example of my favourite coin type I could afford.

Shop around a little, take your time, and buy yourself a coin that is special, in your own eyes, something you will look back on with delight for years to come :)

Same here. The most important thing is to collect what floats your boat, not whatever the voters say. Having said that, if you like Geo V shillings then I agree with the fact they are quite cheap. Buy the best you can afford, avoid date runs. The other nice thing about them is that if you're not bothered collecting varieties, there aren't any rare shillings - and that includes 1917, 1919, 1925, 1930, all fairly readily available.

What Mongo said.

Your collection should have a theme, but don't be afraid to break it if you really, really like a particular coin (for whatever reason). If you like Geo V Shillings then buy the best examples you can afford. There are 26 years to collect!

There might be one under the foundation stone of a church in Vauxhall if you've got a chisel - Really and truly just joking!

Or if you have a tiny chisel, a lathe, a magnifying glass, and a 1935 penny... :D
