Peckris Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Hi,Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this piece but perhaps someone could point me in the right direction to obtain some more info on it.ThanksSimonI'm not sure at all. It's definitely not hammered, probably quite a lot earlier from the look of it. I'm thinking it may be contemporary with Celtic issues, but it would need someone with much more knowledge than I to confirm that. Quote

I'd have a punt and say it's Indian or somewhere in that vicinity, but as to attribution - not a clue. Quote
Peter Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I've seen Asian (mainly Indian) coins similar to this but not taken a huge interest.I am guessing here but only a few hundred years old.Try Coinpeople which although US based have a few interested parties. Quote
TomGoodheart Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 (edited) Looks Indian to me too. Possibly a copper coin called a paisa? Maybe mid-1700s to 1800s?I pulled up this link: V Coins Maybe take a look through to see if there's anything similar to your example? Edited August 24, 2011 by TomGoodheart Quote
