Coolmule Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 i believe the half farthing to be in good nic Quote
azda Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 (edited) Just noticed an 1844 Farthing, is that correct Conor? If so you should scan that, quite rare those, or is the 1st line for pennies? Edited February 25, 2011 by azda Quote
SionGilbey Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Oof.. half farthing. That makes it around £5 (Unless it's in brilliant nick then it could be worth 15 ) However it might have the E over N error in Regina making it worth £50-£100 @2002/3 usershttp://rapidshare.com/files/449835593/Copy_of_Jims_Coins_1-1.xlsThis should work with older version of Excel. Try it! Quote

Peckris Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 welcome conormy sons middle name isnt connor, but what the heck. i hope you keep the coins, if their low grade, they will be of more value to you personally than the money they may fetch.if their high grade, well you may have the start of a nice collection.additionally to what has been said here already about ebay spreadsheets etc, you will learn a lot about history, rulers/wars etc....coin collecting is an enthralling hobby.....i hope you decide to keep em.shame it isnt connor ;D anyway heres the database that i made tell me any that you would like pictures of blagh says im not permitted to upload a file why is this ? Maybe it's too big. The max single file size here is 150kb.Try http://rapidshare.com/Click the yellow upload button then the select files button.Has this worked guys http://rapidshare.com/files/449833048/Jims_Coins_1.xlsxNo, despite being well used to SnailShare, and downloading it ok, for some reason Office won't let me open it in Excel. Is it that horrible x on the end by any chance? People occasionally send me .docx files until I snarl at them and they send me a good old .doc instead. Is this the same problem? Will it upload in .xls format? Quote

declanwmagee Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 1st quick tip, Conor; do the XL sheet the other way around - dates down the left hand side, denominations across the top.I can see that you've copied the denominations from Tony Clayton's excellent site, so that should be able to tell you all you need to know about values, so long as you can grade the coins - a few example scans to the experts here will give you a good idea about grading. It's an excellent starter collection if you ask me. I'd be tempted to keep it, and upgrade the worst coins first. Sell what gets kicked out and use the funds to upgrade more. It'll develop a momentum of it's own if you let it. Lots of duplicates in there, so where you have a group of identical coins, keep the best one, and sell the rest. You have a nice spread of George V silver in there. Pretty much regardless of grade you'd be surprised how saleable that is on fleabay at the moment. Victoria Bun Pennies are going nuts at the moment too. Quote
