azda Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 What do you make of the 1 and 8 in this date, is the 1 weakly struck or is something up with the 8, not quite sure. I've had to enlarge the picture, so my apologies for quality Quote
£400 for a Penny ? Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 What do you make of the 1 and 8 in this date, is the 1 weakly struck or is something up with the 8, not quite sure. I've had to enlarge the picture, so my apologies for qualityI think it's not dissimilar to that mis-strike you had a month or so ago, they've run out of room at the bottom. If you can get it for a reasonable price, might as well pick it up I reckon. The 1 also looks thinner than the rest of the numerals Edited September 15, 2010 by azda Quote

Hussulo Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Could be a bit of grease on the 1 in the die, which once struck makes the 1 not as sharp. Quote
