New Ebay rules

Just to mke you all aware Ebay should be getting better in June as they are limiting free listings to 100 per month which should ZAP the 99p junk listings...about time....I used to spend a few hours per week on Ebay but haven't bothered because of the junk.

I'm sure the loop hole will soon be filled.

I've personally got a buying and another selling account....it will surely stop some sellers listing 600 items of tat per week & I never sell more than 100 coins per month.....I shall be holding off for a month or 2 to see how it pans out.

In the good old days maybe 12 or 13 thousand coins were listed under British now its more like 40,000.

I wish you could block sellers.

If you search worldwide it's in the high 50s. Blocking seller, now that would be good to do.

What happens then is casual readers who may or may not be members notifys the seller we are over here trashing them which in turn leads to squabbles on the forum.

If there were a private section , members only , even then its dodgy,

I would have thought we would welcome them to defend, or to clear up, anything? I mean, if someone has bought a fake, and the usual 'contacting the seller' process has failed, there isn't really a leg to stand on.

Perhaps threads could take the form of the coin itself being the title, and the details in the opening post, not accusing, but asking opinion? The the seller could be contacted, by the buyer, and given a link. Keep it open and honest.. and properly moderated.

Do your normal search...

Then select Advanced search (just to the right of the Search button, at the top of the page). Scroll down almost to the bottom, and you'll see a section marked "Sellers". Check the box labelled "only show items from", and choose the "Specific Sellers" radio button. Choose "Exclude" from the drop-down, and paste your blacklist into the box immediately after it. It looks like it won't all fit, but it will. Commas to separate, no spaces.

Then choose your Sort Order and your Results per Page, hit search, and marvel at the amount of crap it's filtered out.

Before you move on, save the search by choosing "Save this search and alert me later", at the top of the page on the same line as the number of results returned. You'll get a little pop-up - name the search, take the email notification off, and away you go.

Access the saved search in the future from My Ebay, down the left hand side, look for Saved Searches - it'll be in there under the name you gave it in the previous step.

I think it would be easy for e bay to track a fixed IP address, and limit it to the requisite number of free istings per month. But there are a significant number of dynamic IP addresses, which change frequently, and then there is nothing to stop anybody doing multiple registrations, via proxy servers.

Yes - I've noticed on Wikipedia that each of my edits has a different IP address (final two numbers), so mine must be dynamic.
