I've managed to take a better picture of one of my coins.

I am a lot happier with the new images as they capture the colour of the coin a lot better.

At an angle sometimes looks better doesn't it.

Fabulous error that. And you're going to be auctioning it soon?

Yes I am pleased with the new picture. I seem to be getting better at taking pictures.

I guess the old saying, practise makes perfect...

I'm afraid it is one of the errors I plan on keeping.

I am going to be selling some errors on Coins4u.net but this is my personal favourite and I really don't want to have to let it go. I'm finding it hard to let the others go but I am going to hang on to the Florin.

I have posted some of the others on another thread as "Purchase Now". There is a very nice brockage penny for sale.

I recently took new pictures of my Victoria Gothic florin brockage, so I decided to try my hand at SpaceMonkey's excellent templates for Photoshop (member on another forum).

What do you think?

How are you getting such a good picture? I'm afraid my scanner will not do that kind of justice to a coin's tone, so I'd be interested to know how you did it?

I would suggest by using a DSLR.

I will not be scanning my coins again.

Oh dear, I don't own one. Oh well, back to the scanner.

That's a great picture, Huss. I had the problem that I had to get good quality pictures whilst leaving the coin perfectly round so that I could remove the background mechanically, so had to take them head on. Theoretically it is possible to re-shape circular objects with Photoshop, but in practice almost impossible to do and the end result makes you feel seasick! I tried all sorts of methods of improving my photographs including three point lighting, flooding with light etc. In the end, I found the best method was to take the whole lot - camera, stand etc. into the garden on a sunny day and take photographs there.

It is fair to say that silver coins photograph far more easily than copper/bronze which can be a nightmare!
