Red Riley Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I have been asked to give my opinion as to whether this coin might be a proof, and although it's hardly an area of expertise, neither the edges nor the design look sharp enough to me. I would however appreciate a second, third, fourth... opinion!Nice coin though.I have been asked to give my opinion as to whether this coin might be a proof, and although it's hardly an area of expertise, neither the edges nor the design look sharp enough to me. Red Riley Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 OK, I seem to have messed that up. Will try again when I've established what went wrong. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 There's a problem at the moment attaching images. I can't work out why at the moment. Quote
Hussulo Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 One way to get round it is to post the pictures on another site, image hoster, photo bucket etc. Then click on the picture of the tree in the post message/reply message writing section. Then copy and past the pictures url (www...) into the "enter the complete url" box.Finaly post your message and this should work. Quote
scottishmoney Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 PM the picture to me, I will put it on my webhost and post it back here. Quote
Rob Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 (edited) Not convinced. Although the fields look proof-like, the edge milling doesn't look sharp which you would expect on a proof and the design, particularly on the reverse certainly doesn't look up to standard. For example, the centre feature of the rev. should have 5 raised vertical lines, but there are none. The coin also looks as if it has been dipped. The rims on this series are not so wide as on other types, but again they do not look good enough. I would expect to see flat rims, not rounded or uneven ones. Personally I wouldn't buy it as a proof Edited July 7, 2007 by Rob Quote
