So six years ago the pound was near parity with the dollar an extreme right wing conservative government had taken over and the queen had just died

Now we have a much more left leaning government the pound is getting on for $1.50 to the dollar and everyone is predicting doom and disaster prob because america is the only country that can guarantee its oil supply.

Call it the Trump effect. Very few people in this world can move markets like a US president, and very few US presidents have had ambitions to tank their own economy like Trump, due to his Stable coin collateral, which will inflate the debt away. The pound isn't stronger because of the left wing government in this country, rather because the tea leaf readings of the wannabe dictator across the pond aren't good for the US economy. Trump is of course happy with events because his personal wealth is keeping up with the collapse in the dollar, and he is always right. Methinks American Revolution 2.0 might be closer than you might imagine.

That presumably couldn't be enacted via Executive Order ... for obvious reasons!

I think he has already explored that option, but if he tried to enact it, all hell would let loose and would result in massive internal upheaval of the violent kind. As ever, he says something and waits for the reaction before pursuing whatever he is trying to implement. The military swears an oath of allegiance to the Constitution, not Trump, so you have an instant division of the armed forces, and as much as he thinks he is popular, that would be a step too far in the view of most Americans, whatever side they are on. Only him and his buddies would benefit in the short term at the expense of the rest of the population who will of necessity have a hard time. But in time he will turn on his friends too, as all dictators end up doing this eventually when someone disagrees with them.

Allowing himself to stand again would need an amendment to the constitution, and he won't be able to get that done.

But I find it hard to believe he has any intention of leaving the White House, and I expect him to stop at nothing to try to stay there. His death would simplify matters, but part of me hopes that doesn't happen. I'll be watching from a distance of course.

If he manufactures another world war, then he would try to retain the position, just like Roosevelt was retained in power as an emergency measure. However, someone, somewhere will take him out before that happens. 99.9% certain of that because the queue of people chomping at the bit would go round the White House many times over. 

Sanity will be restored once the Senate and Congress regain their moral compass, and the Supreme Court grow a pair of balls rather than kow-towing to his ego.

The odds are five to one that Donald Trump will reshape the US constitution and win the presidency for a third time, according to William Hill.

The high street bookie has begun taking bets that Mr Trump will once again take the White House in 2028, an outcome that would require a fundamental overhaul of the modern US political system.

Presidents have been bound to serving no more than two four-year terms under the Twenty-Second Amendment of the Constitution, which was brought into force in 1951.

However, Mr Trump has repeatedly joked about running a third time, telling his supporters last November: “I suspect I won’t be running again unless you say ‘He’s so good, we have to figure it out’.”
