Hello all,

now this may be a short forum.....!?!?!?!?

in date order I have just got things together... 1st lesson was missed.. always use a Jewellers eye prior to buying any coin....

the edge was chipped but I was ok as it was old.. and cheap enough....1708 Queen Anne ....silver 2 Pence Maundy ...14mm across & stamped JACK........Screech of brakes...! what? When did this happen? you cant see it with the naked eye,... its unseen by me over all these years.... I seem to manage buy all of the unusual ones out there..... Doh

It's plausible that the damage was done when crudely removing a soldered loop.

I think the engraving of "JACK" actually makes the item more interesting. It is a curious object rather than a collector's coin.

Could’ve been given to a lover named Anna by a gentleman with the surname Jack?
My grandmother was Evelyn Jack, so not her :D

That may have been a love charm with a soldered loop just above Jack?

Maybe this kind of thing?

Hello Paddy and thank you, its all coming together with WH Smith folder pages, nice to be able to show and learn more as it happens. I have these watch chains 1 is with a silver six pence.

and these took a little of working out.....   they are miniature medals 1 x The Military Medal the other is The kings South Africa medal, worn as Pocket Watch Fobs. may have been a trend back in the day.....many thanks "H"

Nice group again there. You have the basis of a good Maundy collection.

Yes the fourpence is Maundy. The circulation fourpence in the 19th century have Britannia on the reverse instead of the numeral 4. In any case, no circulation Britannia 4Ds were issued dated 1868.
