OldSilver Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I am very new to collecting and I have a question about the $10 British Virgin Islands 1900 - 2000 coin issued in 2000 1 oz silver coin. The only examples I can find online have no gem insert and I'd like to know how rare or valuable the coin is. So does anyone here know where I can find such information. ... I also have a £2 South Georgia & south sandwich islands 2000 1 oz silver coin which has the crown crest and celebrates the queen mothers 100th Birthday. It also has a small gem insert. Quote
Sword Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 An example was sold as part of a large group by London Coins auction. https://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?page=Pastresults&searchterm=$10+British+Virgin+Islands+2000&searchtype=1&red=1 Unfortunately, there isn't really a demand for such items. But modern commemoratives can help people get interested in the hobby. 1 2 Quote

Sword Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 We all have to start from somewhere and what we collect changes with time. Most collectors would eventually want to collect items that at least resemble the "real" coins we can spent. 2 Quote
