blakeyboy Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 We've just been let down by our 4th contractor in a row. We need an insulated metal roof and insulated green corrugated walls for our Village Hall in Worcestershire. We've had: Too busy coming out of cover, and not his area. A 6-figure quote, site unseen, hoping we were idiots, Then very keen but heart trouble, into Papworth, then silence, now we've just had the got to start another job, can't wait any more to start ( wheels have ground slowly) Anyone on here have any contacts or ideas? We've lost 3 years so far, and got nowhere - rather annoying, and I want it done before I'm too bloody old! Quote

ozjohn Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 (edited) Hi Jelida, I noticed you were interested in vacumm tube HiFi. Many years ago I worked for the MO valve company at Brook Green where they manufactured KT88 and KT 66 beam tetrode tubes. The section I worked in was concerned with UHF low noise triodes and microwave tubes also a CV4085 that was a special version of the more common EF86. When I finished there I had an HNC in electrical engineering and went on the gain an honors degree in electrical engineering in Australia Ozjohn Edited February 12, 2024 by ozjohn more info Quote

I am lucky to have many spare MOV valves, will certainly see me out. But my perspective is very much that of a collector, I can service or repair vintage amplifiers and televisions, but my knowledge of electronics is pretty basic. I also have several thousand LP records, mostly 60’s and ‘70’s Rock, Prog, Folk etc but I have to admit some Pop too. But mostly renovating my ancient farmhouse and barns for the last six years though. 1 Quote
