Peckris 2 Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I got this when I tried to post a hilarious Amazon review. Many times I edited it but nothing worked ... until I spotted that one of the reviews featured a list of luxury brands (for comic effect). When I removed that line, the post sailed through. Have a look and see if something in your post can be identified as a product - you will get the "Forbidden" message as the software thinks it's spam. Quote
Pavel Posted May 9, 2019 Author Posted May 9, 2019 It's not even a post... I am trying to edit my profile, and just adding one word - "Australia" to the location field? Quote
azda Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Funnily enough I’m seeing “not secure” in the web address bar, anyone else? Quote
Paddy Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 The "Not Secure" is normal for this site. It is because it is an http site not an https site. The latter I believe costs more and is really only essential if handling personal or financial data. I think this has been discussed before somewhere on here. Quote

Ahhh thanks Paddy, seeing it a lot more from various other sites I visit, thought it was something to do with the site certificates. Quote

Personally, I would advise the owner of the site to get https. It's a pain in the backside to get it running; it took me half a day to configure it on my site, and I am (sort of) competent as server admin. But, on the other hand, he will just get someone more competent than myself to do it for him. The reason I recommend it is not security only, but also that recently Google started "punishing" sites that don't have https - they are considered unsafe, and get lower search ranking. In other words, you lose visibility and visitors. Quote

The fact is, http really is unsecure and a hacker could see your data, or even track your IP address. There is a little app called "https everywhere" (or similar) which is highly recommended. We think just because we don't give out personal information on a site (like this) we're safe. We arent! Quote
