davetmoneyer Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Hi Thought I would share one of my latest acquisitions, Edward I penny class 3b/c transitional issue (quite rare) conjoined wedge drapery and pellets in stead of spearheads in the crown, London mint, acquired from C.J. Martin for £50 coin ex Middridge hoard, looks lovely in the hand Quote
Coinery Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 That’s a lovely coin, Dave, what a price! You could have 10 of those for the price of that recent CNG coin I mentioned in the Plantagenets thread. Quote
davetmoneyer Posted February 5, 2018 Author Posted February 5, 2018 good quality coins are readily available throughout the trade at sensible prices all you need to do is hunt for them! Quote

That's what I love about this forum, there's always something new to learn more cool stuff to add to the collection wants list! Quote
Rob Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Incuse pellets? Are you experiencing a lighting trick? I've noticed that because I expect the light source to be at 12 o'clock, anything from below makes the detail look incuse. I think it is something to do with my eyes taking the angled sides of the relief detail illuminated from below and translating that into a top illuminated recessed wall. 1 Quote
Coinery Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I often see devices incuse! Takes an age sometimes to see them normally, then you can flick between the two after that! Quote
