Hi Thought I would share one of my latest acquisitions, Edward I penny class 3b/c transitional issue (quite rare) conjoined wedge drapery and pellets in stead of spearheads in the crown, London mint, acquired from C.J. Martin for £50 coin ex Middridge hoard, looks lovely in the hand

That’s a lovely coin, Dave, what a price! You could have 10 of those for the price of that recent CNG coin I mentioned in the  Plantagenets thread.

Incuse pellets on the reverse... is this normal? I've never seen a Plantagenet coin like this. That's what I love about this forum, there's always something new to learn  more cool stuff to add to the collection wants list!

Incuse pellets? Are you experiencing a lighting trick? I've noticed that because I expect the light source to be at 12 o'clock, anything from below makes the detail look incuse. I think it is something to do with my eyes taking the angled sides of the relief detail illuminated from below and translating that into a top illuminated recessed wall.

I often see devices incuse! Takes an age sometimes to see them normally, then you  can flick between the two after that!
