Hi Thought I would share one of my latest acquisitions, Edward I penny class 3b/c transitional issue (quite rare) conjoined wedge drapery and pellets in stead of spearheads in the crown, London mint, acquired from C.J. Martin for £50 coin ex Middridge hoard, looks lovely in the hand

That’s a lovely coin, Dave, what a price! You could have 10 of those for the price of that recent CNG coin I mentioned in the  Plantagenets thread.

good quality coins are readily available throughout the trade at sensible prices all you need to do is hunt for them!

Incuse pellets on the reverse... is this normal? I've never seen a Plantagenet coin like this. That's what I love about this forum, there's always something new to learn :) more cool stuff to add to the collection wants list!

Incuse pellets? Are you experiencing a lighting trick? I've noticed that because I expect the light source to be at 12 o'clock, anything from below makes the detail look incuse. I think it is something to do with my eyes taking the angled sides of the relief detail illuminated from below and translating that into a top illuminated recessed wall.
