Descartes Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Chaps, Please could I ask your advice regarding the classification of the two attached Edward I pennies. I'm hoping the first is a 1c as I've been looking for a good quality one for ages! The second coin, although not so nice, is a Canterbury mint so a little different. Many thanks, Descartes Quote
Descartes Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Oh, and here are the reverses of the coins Quote
TomGoodheart Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 No idea about classes Descartes, but both lovely looking coins. Particularly the first. Seller's pics look familiar too .. wonder where I've seen the like of those before? 1 Quote
davetmoneyer Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 First a pleasant 1c and the second 3c Cant 1 Quote

I thought it was a 1c but I wanted to get an expert opinion. I now have all the class 1 pennies in top grade, except for the rather elusive 1a. I know the Canterbury isn't so aesthetic to look at but I haven't got any Edward I pennies minted from there! Quote

I'm afraid I'm still in Ukraine working until 21st December and I don't have any pictures of my 1b on my laptop. I'll try and get my folks back home to take a pic on the phone. If not, when I return to the nest for the Christmas hols I'll post one on here myself. 1 Quote

HistoricCoinage Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 (edited) I'm a huge fan of this series, along with Henry III and Edward the Confessor. Here are some of my 1s. A repaired 1a, a stunning 1b and a 1c & 1d. Edited December 26, 2017 by HistoricCoinage 3 Quote
