Conor44 Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Hi all, Just thought I'd post a few pictures of this George iii 1776 Guinea to see opinions of grade - have purchased over graded coins in the past so want to be sure about this before I 'splash out ' ? I am gradually becoming more familiar with coin grading, however for a coin like this I feel the opinions of the experienced collectors on this forum should be considered first ☺ Thanks everyone in advance, Conor Quote
Rob Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 I'd give it VF - obvious flat bits to both sides, so I can't go higher. Quote
Michael-Roo Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 I was thinking VF+, but if Rob says VF then that's good enough for me. I see you've taken these photos from Ebay where it is graded aEF and comes with an asking price of £1700. Quote

Yes, thought grade would have been reliable with this seller, good thing it's on my screen and not in my hand ? his asking price is very steep- have seen uncirculated examples go for less. Quote
Rob Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 VF/VF+ depends on which bit you are looking at. Hair is quite reasonable, but it looks like wear on the eyebrow. Left side of the shield is better than the right. Nobody is going to argue the toss over a + sign - unless you are the seller Quote
