WildCamper Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Hello everyone, I've recently ordered some rotographic books as advised by yourselves but was wondering could you please advise on any reputable coin dealers that you all use on a regular basis? Is there like a number one that everyone uses or just a few that are very reliable? I've have looked at a few online but don't know who is better than the others as I'm new to this. I would prefer to avoid buying off eBay if possible as worried about fakes etc. Any advise will be greatfully received. Thanks Iain Quote

Thanks Iain Hi WildCamper There are many reputable dealers, many specialise a little, so what are you looking to collect? Quote
Nordle11 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 We have some very reputable and reliable dealers right here on the forum WD; - Rob - Declanwmagee - The Coinery - RLC35 - mhcoins Just to name a few. Anyone with a green 'Coin Dealer' title under their name is also a forum trusted dealer, although not having that does not mean they're not. 2 Quote

1949threepence Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 In addition to the members we have on here, who are very reputable dealers, I'm going to put a plug in for Colin Cooke who in my opinion is right up amongst the very top few in the country. Over the years I've bought a lot of stock from Colin Cooke, most of it at a very reasonable price, and I've never been disappointed. They've also held exclusively on line auctions, all of which were highly successful, the last of which was for one of our members here, who decided to auction off his outstandingly good penny collection last year. The original Colin Cooke sadly passed away in April 2005, but the business was carried on, and most recently, its manager Neil Paisley landed the plum post of managing director of Baldwins. Also well worth looking through the collections Colin Cooke has auctioned over the years, if you're a fan of the denominations involved. Quote
Coinery Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I've bought from both Rob AND Declan, both very knowledgeable in their fields! Rob was there when they made the very first coin, and has remembered everything that's happened since, and Declan will also do you very nicely too...both know a quality coin, and won't lie to you about it! Declan's also got a pretty groovy Facebook page if you're into that sort of thing, and both have got websites! 2 Quote
Coinery Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 If you like a farthing, Colin of aboutfarthings is also a great guy, and running a great website! 1 Quote

WildCamper Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed to this post it's very helpful. In regards to say to buy a coin of anyone of the given names on this forum would it be a case of just PM them and asking for there details i.e. Website etc? I've clicked on there profile but I cannot find a website link to visit there shop's. I've looked on Colin Cooke website he has some very nice coins at various prices to suit all budgets. Thanks again everyone! Quote

Coinery Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Don't forget to ask about any coins you are buying! Coin dealers sell everything from fine to uncirculated...you just have to ask, and a good dealer will always be straight with you! You just need to know who they are! Enjoy the ride! Quote
WildCamper Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 This is it the more questions asked the better hey! It's my birthday next month so was going to treat myself to a gothic florin, probably about £400 max so from what I've seen online at coin dealers probably a EF/UNC one. There's just so many die numbers, arc's numbers, different years etc it's a lot of reading up as I'm not sure what is better or not, hopefully these questions plus a bit of research will answer them! Rob Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Seeing as your location is given as Notts, you can always go to the Wakefield Fair on the last Sunday of each month held at the Cedar Court Hotel off Jcn 39 of the M1. Doors open at 9:30. Second Sunday of each month is the Midland Fair held at the Motorcycle Museum, off the NEC junction of the M42. Doors also open at 9:30. If you go to Wakefield, I am the large hairy object on the cross aisle. Quote

Yes I'm from Retford in Nottinghamshire, that's very interesting to know, Wakefield is probably closer to me so I will make a trip out to that and have a look about for you, I will be the ball headed big nose chap looking for you?
