  1. Just checked the rim and there's no indication of anything having gripped the coin. Also do you think the circles affect its value ? C44
  2. I think it would be a good idea to set up a pinned thread with recommended eBay dealers...just an idea
  3. This sounds just like me LOL, Im into other hobbies such as fishing, painting, metal detecting (although I suppose that kinda ties in with the coins), and taxidermy and I find that I have periods when im absolutely obsessed about coin collecting and im buying 2 or 3 coins every week to add to the collection, trawling internet and reading books and magazines, and then, all of a sudden i lose all interest in all things numismatic for a couple of months while i get obsessed with another hobby, then eventually back to coins again I am currently at a time where no other hobby interests me in the slightest only the coins, but im sure thatll change when i run out of coin money LOL Also does anyone else feel that although they spend so much time and mony on their collection, it doesn't seem to get any bigger? Sometimes i feel depressed looking at it, saying to myself 'after all this bloody time, come on, only TEN sixpences? Only TWELVE shillings??' even though 'quality not quantity' has always been my motto- it gets frustrating sometimes! C44
  4. Im convinced that there is no 3 over 0 error on this coin also

  6. They are individual concentric circles. I will post bigger images of front and back when I get home later on
  7. Hi all, https://postimg.org/image/42brl18it/ This is a coin that has been in my collection for a little over a year now, and I have been puzzled about these circular scratches on this rather nice William and Mary Shilling. They are perfect and get bigger the closer they are to the rim- its the same on the reverse. I originally thought it may be some sort of a mint error, but I am doubtful about this, as on the ebay listing (Calm down, don't worry, a well known BNTA dealer- youll probobally know who from the style of listing photograph) the scratches, although apparent in the photo, were not described at all, although the coin was incorrectly sold to me as an 'unrecorded 3 over 0' type (its 1693), which I cannot see- im not accusing the seller of foul play but it seems to me as he was trying to nab a few more quid for it, possibly to make up for the scratches? Anyway id appreciate if anyone could tell me what they are and do they affect its value? One more point to note: they weren't made yesterday as its apparent that these are old scratches, Thanks, Conor
  8. Thanks Kal, paid 200 euro for it so that would be about right. ?
  9. Yeah it won't let me post bigger images unfortunately
  10. Hi all, Acquired this coin from a local antique dealer who doesn't specialize in coins and only keeps a few, its a beautiful Elizabeth I shilling, I think clipped slightly. Im not an expert on hammereds so I would appreciate if anyone could tell me the type, year, value etc and most importantly if it looks alright (I know there are forgeries about). Any help much appreciated, Conor
