Its funny you say that as I listed this for two weeks with a starting Buy it Now price at £14.95 with no takers so am keeping it for a while now.
-
Ok thanks for the help with the grade.
-
Yes you want a tight fit, or as close as you can get otherwise you will end up with movement. And if you use the aluminium cases as I do and store them on their sides you definitely don't want movement.
-
Yes 28mm I think pre 1887. The Jubilee Florin is bigger at 29.5mm and then the rest are 28.5mm , correct me if I am wrong.
-
Well I have been there i bought the 28mm and found that the coin was a bit tight and pushed out the foam causing it to not fit correctly in the holder which made it hard to close the shell. But I am sure there are others that will comment. If this helps its a list I made for sizes of each coin. Farthing 21mm - Halfpenny 27mm - Penny 31mm - Silver 3d 17mm - Brass 3d 22mm - Sixpence 20mm - Shilling 24mm - Florin 29mm - Halfcrown 33mm - Crown 39mm Hope that helps. Mick

I have a 1746 Farthing not the best condition, but have found that Obverse is upside down to the Reverse. I hope you understand when looking at the Reverse with the date at the bottom and you turn it over like turning a page in a book the head on the Obverse is upside down. My question is this normal or have I found something unusual. I only ask as I do not have anything else of that age to compare it with. Any help appreciated please.
-
Thanks Rob I thought that, but then again I also thought 1 or 2 may have slipped though the process and I had found a scarce coin Sorry about the pictures not good but the colour is about right its quite bright sheen here is a couple more pics, still cannot get the pics as the coins will have to do better.
-
Hi everyone need your advice please has this coin been cleaned I am not too sure looks very shiny to me for coin of that age. I did not pay a vast amount for it but will fill a space in my Farthing collection that coming on well. The reason I ask is that the seller has more of these and would like to go for them it this ones all right. Will leave it up to the professionals but not Bodey and Doyle.

Thanks everyone for you comments. Its nice to know I maybe getting things right at last. I have added a couple of more photo's slightly larger so would appreciate any further comments on condition of this coin. See Pics below hope these are better. Thanks for the kind comment. It always look good in hand, oh and by the way my first name is Mick if that helps. Did notice a slight edge knock at 4 o'clock on the reverse shows up a lot more in the photo rather than in hand. Must keep an eye out for these in future.
-
Know its not in a holder. I just cannot get my photo's to show the best out the coin. Below are the original photo's from the listing which look much better I think.
-
Get your golf clubs ready Here is my latest addition to the collection quite like this for the price I paid not the best but will do for the moment. Will leave the final verdict with those that know better than me. Looks far better in hand than my pictures depict.
-
I agree its only me who has too look at my coins and at the end of the day I am the one spending my money and choosing the coins I like. But we all like to hear good comments on our purchases, and other peoples opinions should be their opinions and I should not let it bother me. For some reason I let the opinions get to me. I can now see that perhaps I took them the wrong way. Thanks for the kind comments and yet again more good advice, will take it on board when choosing a coin/coins to buy in future did have a good look at you thread and I can see hoe you have progressed. I have just jumped in and bought without thinking that much about checking every area of the coin for instance the 1935 crown the surfaces looked good no marks to speak off, the strike looked crisp to me anyway, the price was good etc but the knock on the edge did not register. I was taken over by thoughts that I must have it at all costs instead of checking everything a second time just to make sure. Well I learned that now I must sit back and be more observant when checking a coin.

Looks like its back to the drawing board again. I can't seem to get anything right perhaps collecting coins isn't for me.
-
I can't help it that I live in the the Pensioner Capital of the world But you right about not many will love Black Sabbath their loss in my opinion.
-
That's fine I can file that out with emery paper and a buffer.
-
Its old age I think. Chill out man, this was the best 1887 Crown I could find at the time. In hand you hardly see the hairlines. Maybe its my eyesight To be honest if I had endless amounts of money I would buy better, but only on a pension which is not a lot So will not eat this week after this purchase. Still I am happy with it and that is all that matters.
-
Well if you get a better one think of me for this one please.
-
My latest arrived today 1935 Crown pleased with it. I graded this as EF your views on grade please. I helps me to see if I am getting it right. I don't think its too bad for the price of £15. These are not my pictures do you think these are scanned if so I may try this myself if I can ever get my printer to comply

Well never saw any of the rock groups I liked back in the day, except Black Sabbath live but not in concert. I manage to get a glimpse of them when they filmed one of their video's at Battle Abbey in East Sussex this was after they got rid of Ozzy as lead singer. I managed to get in the Abbey with my brother and his friend and crept up on the battlements to watch then play. But did get to see Hawkwind and Wizzard on Hastings Pier.

Sabbath fan all my life even have a Toni Iommi Special Ltd Edition Guitar that I am trying to play should have started 50 years ago but something to do in retirement. Can play the intro to Smoke On The Water and status Quo intro to Pictures Of Matchstick Men but that s my lot at present.

No your right it did show the date in the picture but the flaw did not show so prominent as it did in my pictures I took myself. That's why I did not notice it, and being a novice at this and being recommended the dealer on here I just took the description as read and thought everything would be good. Just shows how much I need to think about before parting with my money. These discussion help me a lot thanks for all your help.
-
Just to clarify I bought from an online dealer and the pictures on the website did not show this at all, so how is it my fault It was only when I was photographing it I notice the flaw. I have emailed the seller to ask for it to be returned, so will wait an see what they say. Oh and thanks to everyone for the feedback it helps a lot .
