  1. If you have read my previous posts, and know the story of this coin, please DO NOT post any names, or company names on this thread I have been in communication with the company that rejected my coin for grading, I am ok with the failed result, but I am not happy with the returned condition of my coin, it looks like the coin has been "tooled" (see picture). I have photos of the coin before being posted to the company (with no damage), and a photo of the coin in the slab when it was returned showing the damage (which proves the damage was not caused by myself removing it from the slab). It has been tooled in two places, but pictures of the other tool marks are hard to get, and not as bad as the marks in this picture. So my question is , how much has this affected the value of my coin (max book price £3,000) Please remember NO names in this thread Thanks.....
  2. Looks bigger than the other numbers in the date to me !
  3. I am new to coin collecting, and have only had one coin slabbed. My mistake here was that I was not after a grade, but only to confirm the coin was not a fake. I am waiting on a special camera that will allow me to take close up pictures of a coin, then I can write my next thread on the grading process I am not out to write a hate thread about CGS , I just want CGS to answer my questions truthfully, Camera = http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281479365170?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Where is that postman.........
  4. Just waiting on delivery of a special camera that can get close up pictures of coins, so looks like new thread will be next year Happy Xmas all.......
  5. Pete , I am not referring to my Gothic here , I am pointing to the prices people are asking for slabbed coins On the other hand , I am in communication with CGS at this time , and will be starting a new thread very soon called "GOTHIC CROWN - PART 2" This will make a good read, and put people off slabbing coins.....
  6. Decimal currency does nothing for me what so ever, hence the fact most of us tend to collect OLD coins lol. Does anyone here actually collect decimal? Apart from the 2 pound boysI do , but my collection is close to complete so I am moving down to Victoria
  7. I'll pay to keep it going , you just sit there and read.....
  8. Chris , crown arrived and is much better looking than in the web site pictures Thanks again Andy S.
  9. So whats the difference between the three coins ?
  10. Chris , You have some other coins that I may by looking to buy Do I get a bit of discount now as I have purchased a couple from here ?
  11. Purchased the one from here to help support the site I do want an 1847 Young Head to hold hands with my Gothic. It don't look like I can get them in the same grade (EF)
  12. Thanks Stuntman Which one to buy , or should I but two , think I had better check my bank account
  13. I'm looking at moving my collection back in years , and want to upgrade my Victorian crowns I'm looking for a Victoria Young head crown , would like 1847 but other years are acceptable I want it be to better than VF if possible, but it seems they are hard to get hold of Where should I look to acquire one ?
  14. Here is an example of what I am talking about http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2013-2014-2015-Silver-20-coins-All-investment-graded-/321929059286?hash=item4af4779bd6:g:S9YAAOSwAKxWU0gN

  16. I think I need to buy this book
  17. Tom , you words have pushed me to the purchase , sod the bank account
  18. Nice price , I would have paid that
  19. I have found a coin I want , its the frosted reverse 2001 crown Spink 4554A Its been removed from the set it was in and slabbed. Just got to justify the price now...
  20. My guess (I'm not an expert) would be VF+ to NEF
  21. I agree that there are costs involved , but the percentage added to the price is astronomical I don't know what other people think , but I don't have to own the best example , just a very good one.

    Set Wanted

When you collect a set of coins , you want one of each , may have to have a gap in my set I'm not paying way over book price , lets see if one turns up at a coin auction
  23. I'm looking at decimal 1983-2015 coins , which are more of a fixed value They put them up with a fixed "Buy It Now" price , way over the actual book value
  24. CGS must be slabbing loads of coins as the percentage of CGS slabs on Ebay is going up Is this the way the market is going , get your coin slabbed so you can raise the price by 200% Is it worth paying that premium for a CGS slabbed coin ?
