  1. You can get free pdf converters on the web, just type in word to pdf converter and hey presto
  2. http://www.mathsinstruments.me.uk/page26.html Interesting to note the same colour change to indicate decimal figures, hundreds and thousands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adding_machine That one looks similar
  3. Could be some sort of tally for counting people, mining, football ground or similar. But why would they have different colours. Would it allow you to count people in with one set of reels and then people out with the other at the same time?
  4. I agree, some of those George III designs are very appealing, and it does give denomination collectors the chance to get their hands on something out of the ordinary
  5. Does anyone know whether St James post out their invoices?
  6. In fairness i did receive an e-mail about the sale the day before, but it was only by chance that I spotted the bronze bunhead penny on the e-mail that led me to do a catalogue search....but alas no farthings
  7. Me too
  8. That's the trouble here, doesn't matter how small the error is...they pounce
  9. I think the reference was to the fact that we have pre-decimal, and are currently in decimal, so post decimal does not yet theoretically exist...or as it will be better known the "euro" phase!!
  10. I had been watching a few of these, but got sidetracked with some DIY at the weekend, so completely forgot about them...... That 1844 was definitely better than VF but a few knocks and bumps.
  11. Do you have an existing copy, couldn't you just scan it in, or do you want to change the form?
  12. Another set of fascinating photos, showing battle sites today http://io9.com/sobering-images-show-famous-world-war-i-battle-sites-a-1581624280
  13. Peck I think most people would agree with 2, but unless 1 gets addressed rapidly, then more people see us "getting out" as the only option. The fundamental problem is that the people who have any hope of reforming Europe have no passion to do so, and even if they did, the bureaucracy would prevent it from changing quickly enough.
  14. Couldn't have put it better myself, but you just know that this thread is going to descend into chaos!!
  15. I have had full payout for coins in the past on recorded delivery, Peck is correct that it is only currency coins that are not covered. They will try and tell you it is not applicable, but their description is quite clear. Special delivery covers even currency coins and all valuable items.
  16. Dave I would not get too carried away with the CGS definitions, that was why they dropped back to numbers and removed the accompanying descriptive grade from the slabs. There are certainly examples of coins that would be described as Unc with full lustre that may not make it into the 85+ category due to a weaker strike, carbon spot or visible bag marks. The below coin is a prime example, it has full lustre, but has some light surface marks across the neck and is weak across the legs of Britannia. I thought this was a harsh grade for this coin.....I would have had no doubts describing this coin as BUNC if I was to sell it. http://www.coingradingservices.co.uk/?uin=0019880&page=coin_verification&Submit=Verify
  17. In my opinion it depends on whether the issue continues to get publicised. Collectors know the reality of the scarcity, as we did around the 20p mule, but as long as it remains in the awareness of the public the prices will continue to be maintained. Once the fascination drops away then it will be down to collectors to determine the market value.
  18. I do not have copies of the George II farthings at the moment, so can not really assist...sorry
  19. Ed, Welcome to the forum, I think the midland coin fair is a great place to learn, there is a real mix of dealers and a great range of coins for all budgets.
  20. I did chuckle at this one Dave
